Building Strength Together
As we step into the fourth week of school, it's amazing to see how much we've accomplished together in such a short time. With approximately 35 weeks ahead, we remain focused on building strength as a community—supporting, growing, and inspiring one another every step of the way. Let's keep the momentum going and make this year unforgettable!
From the Principal’s Desk
Dear CMIT North High School Community,
I am excited to share that we have had a successful start to the school year! Our students and staff have demonstrated remarkable teamwork, and I am incredibly proud of our school culture, which emphasizes student well-being, success, and preparation for the future.
We are thrilled to announce that our seniors’ fundraising efforts have been a tremendous success. In just a few days, they managed to raise over $16,000! A heartfelt thank you goes out to our parents and community for your continued support. While we are working within a tight budget this year, your involvement makes us stronger, and we couldn't do it without you.
I’d also like to remind everyone about a few important updates and upcoming events. The certificated programs and STEM Clubs sign-up form has been shared with parents and students, and we encourage everyone to explore the opportunities to get involved in our extracurricular activities. We are also excited to host our Club Expo on Saturday, September 21, 2024, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This event is open to all community members, and we invite you to join us in learning more about the clubs and activities we offer.
In addition, please make sure to apply for the Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS) program. This not only supports your family but also helps boost our school budget, allowing us to continue providing essential services and resources for all students.
Lastly, don’t forget about our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 19th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Our instructional team is looking forward to meeting with you and working together to ensure a successful year for all our students.
As always, stay tuned to our newsletter and social media platforms for the latest updates and announcements. Thank you again for your unwavering support, and we look forward to seeing you at these exciting events!

JROTC Partnership and Curriculum Inclusion**

Humble, Air Force JROTC Region Supervisor, and John McDaniel, JROTC Supervisor for Region 4, visited our school to assess how this esteemed program could enhance our students' leadership, discipline, and character-building skills.
In the meantime, our JROTC after clubs provides students, like Samuel Adenola, Grade 12 with similar opportunities. Nurses Note
Hello CMIT Parents and Scholars,
This is a friendly reminder from your school nurse.
To ensure we provide the best care and maintain safety for students with chronic medical conditions, please have your doctor complete a health inventory and submit it to the health office. This will help us respond effectively in case of an emergency and ensure your child's needs are met.
Additionally, if your child has asthma or food allergies, please make sure the required prescribed medication is available in the health office for use as needed. This is crucial for managing their conditions and ensuring their well-being while at school.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe and healthy.
Warm regards,
CMIT North PCS School Nurse

Science Scoop
This week in BioGeoChem by Ms. de Guzman
Students dived into the wonders of constellations! Alongside creating stunning constellation displays, they completed a Kahoot practice test, which doubled as their classwork. It was a fun and interactive way to review the material. A reminder that the official test on constellations will take place this Friday. Be sure to study your notes, displays, and Kahoot results to ace the exam!

Science & Health: Lactose Intolerance and Health Inequities with Mr. Marshall
This week in Biology Honors, students dive deeper into lactose intolerance, exploring its genetic and biological underpinnings. Students were also allowed to make career connections in the field of biological sciences by understanding how scientists and medical professionals use their expertise to address issues like lactose intolerance. Additionally, students were able to strengthen their ability to analyze data, which is an essential skill in science. We’ll look at case studies and real-world data to see how researchers use evidence to make informed decisions about human health in both local and other parts of the world.
In Health Class, students complete their first PowerPoint presentation project on historical health inequities and their impact on modern-day healthcare mis/distrust. By examining examples such as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study and the unethical treatment of enslaved people, students were able to investigate how these events contributed to the continued mistrust in healthcare systems. They were also tasked to draw parallels between these historical injustices and current issues in healthcare, highlighting how past misfortunes continue to shape the healthcare experiences of marginalized communities today.
The goal was for students to learn about these events and understand how history impacts current health outcomes and attitudes toward medical institutions. This knowledge will prepare students for future academic endeavors and equip them with the understanding and skills to navigate the broader implications of healthcare and science in society. The presentation is not just about learning about conquest and the history of medical science; it will help prepare students to make a difference in the world of healthcare and science.
