We put the EE in Energy Efficiency. Aw yea!
Hi all,
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Although in some circles, October is National Pickled Peppers Month, across Aurora Public Schools, we're focusing on energy, conservation, efficiency, and sustainability!
To understand energy efficiency, we have to understand what energy is and how our society uses it. Here are a couple quick videos to share with your students:
So, now that we know where energy comes from, in what forms, and how we use it, let's create a culture for efficiency in our district!
Here are some great resources for your students and green teams to foster a resource conscious culture at their schools:
- Every school has access to its very own Building Dashboard. Students can compare energy usage with their rival school and learn about other resource data (such as water usage and trash generation)
- Pledge Cards (see image to the right) are also a great way to get whole buildings on board with energy efficiency (these can be found in the "Energy" folder on the Google Drive.
- Speaking of the GSSP Google Drive, here's a link to access the whole spectrum of activities and curriculum: Green Stars Google Drive
Here's to another week of project based learning, environmental education, and going green at Aurora Public Schools!

Green Stars Playbook & Badging Guide for all grades
As always, students can earn digital badges for their efforts. For example, students can create a PSA to share with their peers and teachers about best practices to promote energy efficiency at their schools.
Here are this year’s links to the Green Star Playbook & Badging Guide broken down by grade levels and easily accessible for your students to begin badging themselves for their work:
Professional Development Opportunities with Earth Force!
Earth Force would love to see Green Star Schools teachers at one of two upcoming Fall Professional Development opportunities.
The workshop will provide educators with an in-depth introduction to the first three steps of the Earth Force Community Action and Problem Solving process:
