John F. Kennedy School
February 12, 2025
Dear JFK Families,
February is a special month that brings not only the anticipation of spring but also a wonderful array of activities and themes we explore in our kindergarten curriculum. From learning about Presidents' Day and the significance of Black History Month to understanding the values of kindness and friendship celebrated during Valentine's Day, our classrooms are buzzing with engaging and educational experiences.
Take a peek at some of what has been happening at JFK below under Our Month of Learning!
We understand the pivotal role families play in the educational development of children and recognize that the success of our students is greatly enhanced by the strong partnership between home and school. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or any member of our support staff.
Wishing you a wonderful, joyful, and restful February Vacation!
Warm regards,
Meghan Schrader and Bryan Litchfield
Our Month of Learning
We are 100 Days Smarter!
We celebrated the 100th day of school in many fun ways! We recognized all that we've learned and how much we have grown as a school community in our time together this year. We did many activities that showed our ability to count to 100 by making groups of ten, and even counting by ones all the way to 100. We even enjoyed a parade with Mrs. Vasalle and Ms. Munnell's classes singing a song where we were all able to count by 10s!
Making Predictions and Graphing our Ideas
Students celebrated Groundhog Day by talking about what it means to make a prediction and to make their own predictions. Many classes turned the discussion into a math activity when they created graphs to represent their predictions!
Cooperative Learning
At JFK, we love turning all activities into opportunities to learn about the importance of cooperation, team work, and celebrating different ideas! Mrs. McTaggart's class enjoyed working together to "build snowmen" from their reading activity!
Visiting Author Jennifer Comeau
All kindergarten students enjoyed meeting Jennifer Comeau, author of The Inside of Me. During the visit at Biddeford Primary School, students were able to enjoy learning about nature and listen to the words of the story through song.
