Message from your school counselor - Lakisha Bostick
Happy Friday! On Monday DPS will be closed for the Veteran's Day holiday, but NCCU will operate as normal. You are expected to attend your college classes and provide your own transportation. For all students grade 9-11 we will have a make up school picture day on Tuesday, November 12th. If you were absent for the last picture day or want to retake your picture, you will do so on this day. The schedule is as follows: 9th grade will take pictures from 9am to 10am, 10th will take pictures from 10am to 11am, and 11th grade will take pictures from 11am to 12pm. There will be a last call from 12pm to 12:30pm.
Seniors, it is almost time to complete the FASA. This will help you get financial assistance for college. We will have a virtual information meeting on Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm. More information is in this newsletter. Also, please remember to purchase your cap and gown as soon as possible. You can order your cap and gown, by clicking the Jostens link in this newsletter. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please let me know. Also, if you have not taken your senior pictures, you have one last chance to do so on Friday, November 15th. The link to schedule your pictures in also located in this newsletter. If you get accepted into any colleges or get awarded scholarships, please remember to send the email or letter to me. I need the actual email or letter for our records. This information is reported to the district. If you need a counselor letter of recommendation, you must submit the bragg sheet located in this newsletter. The letter will be ready within five business days. Make sure you include my email on common app as your counselor and anything that requires a counselor to submit information for college or scholarships. If you have questions, please let me know on remind or email.
Juniors, if you are interested in applying for NC Governors School, the deadline is November 15th. Please contact Ms. Batson if you have any questions or need any help.
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend!
