Weekly Update
Holy Trinity Catholic School -- May 2nd, 2024
Prayer
I thank you, Father, for bringing us into MAY 2024. Be glorified in the name of Jesus.
Father, forgive me for every way and time I have sinned against you. Let your mercy prevail in my life, in Jesus’ name.
Father, I ask that you beautify my life and make it full of light and splendor like heaven, in Jesus’ name.
Father, I ask that you help my family and me hold on to our faith in Jesus’ name.
This new month of May, hold us under the shadow of your wings in Jesus’ name.
Oh Lord, this May, we will not go out of your presence in Jesus’ name.
Father, help us to remain steadfast this month of May, in Jesus’ name.
Oh God, grant me and my household testimonies in May, in Jesus’ name.
Father, from today until May ends, let us enjoy your goodness in the name of Jesus.
Oh Lord, let Your favor be upon me and my family this month of May. Every good door we knock on, let it be opened to us in the name of Jesus.
Lord, I ask that no matter how long I live here on earth, I will not miss Heaven in Jesus’ name.
Father, as a citizen of heaven, let my life radiate and show beauty in this new month of May, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Father, help me in this new month of May to reach out to lost souls and bring them to you so that they can make heaven in Jesus’ name.
Father, I ask that You will continue to keep us all witness for more months and years, in Jesus’ name.
Father, I ask that you grant me ease this month of May. Let nothing be difficult for me to achieve in the mighty name of Jesus.
Father, thank You for Your ministers and Your grace upon them. I ask that the new month of May will be a blessed month for them, in the name of Jesus.
Father, thank You for honoring Your word and for answering my prayers in May. In Jesus’ mighty name
Amen
A Note from Mrs. Longden
This month is a celebration for our school. We have a lot of things happening to finish up the school year. We have our Outdoor Living Rosary, DARE graduation, Teacher Appreciation Week, Fountas and Pinnell Testing, Art Show, all school field trip, May Crowning, Eucharistic Procession, Baptism Mass, Field Day, 8th Grade and 5K graduation, and so much more. I see our different events in all areas of our school life as grand showcases of our school community. Sure, the shows, performances, or displays are fantastic. More importantly, we teach the children to work together for an end goal. They feel proud of the hard work their project takes with the discipline, perseverance, and drive to be successful. This is their moment of glory as they shine for you and want to make you proud while feeling proud of their accomplishments.
We will hold our annual living Rosary, displaying our pride in our Catholic faith as we participate in creating the beautiful Rosary prayer of our faith. Our field day is coming up, where we will look for athletic ability and student-to-student connections in our group activities. Each event brings out the best in our school. We hope you can enjoy them all and particpate with us as appropriate.
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
THEME
Do you remember what happened at Pentecost in the book of Acts? After they received the Holy Spirit, “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.” Acts 2:42-43
Last weekend students received the Holy Spirit in Confirmation. How beautiful, how exciting!
Another Pentecost happened! Confirmation is Pentecost. It is the same Holy Spirit that is in our hearts. So why don’t we see Him working through us after we were confirmed as much as in the disciples at Pentecost? Why don’t we see healings, signs and wonders done? The Holy Spirit is still present, but rather, we should ask ourselves—what is the disposition of our hearts? Do we ask Him to come?
The Catechism tells us, “the Church invites us to call upon the Holy Spirit everyday, especially at the beginning and the end of every important action.” (CCC 2670) When we pray, “Come Holy Spirit”, He comes immediately to us. Today, let us pray, “Come Holy Spirit, I anticipate you, I expect you, I welcome you.” The Holy Spirit is in you, and He wants out. He wants to work through you.
Great to be Grateful
May Virtue - Obedience
OBEDIENCE
Saint: St. Catherine Laboure
Aspiration: Come Holy Spirit, increase in me the Gift of Piety
Meaning: Assenting to rightful authority without hesitation or resistance
Prayer: Dear Jesus, You are God, and yet You were obedient to Mary and Joseph. Help me to do all that my parents and teachers ask of me - promptly, joyfully, and completely. This virtue pleases You more than all other sacrifices!
Scripture: Luke 2:51-52
Opposing Trait: Resisting the directions of rightful authority.
Ways to Cultivate: Listen to rightful authority; follow directions; give a prompt response
Looks Like/Sounds Like: Listen; follow directions; "I would be happy to do that for you!"; follow directions the first time given and without complaint; listen to rightful authority; anticipate what is expected of you.

Social Fest Class Baskets
Social Fest Auction
Class Baskets:
Class projects this year will be a basket provided by each class.
We are looking for one parent from each class to help with the organizing and execution of this auction item. We will be combining Middle School (6th-8th grade) as one basket.
Tasks include:
- Decide on a theme/idea for the basket
- Ask other class parents for items to fill the basket
- Email classroom teacher so they know what is coming and how to help
- Fill the basket and return to school by July 16th, 2024
Each class basket will have a unique theme. The goal is for the entire class to help solicit the items to fill the basket. Maximum value of the basket would be $500. Please see how you can help.
We are hoping these themed baskets will be a BIG HIT in our Auction again this year...these baskets can range from a night on the town for Mom and Dad, to a family trip to Virginia Beach, and a Family Game Night basket for everyone to enjoy, plus much, much more! We are asking that all parents participate in some way to support your class basket. Parents can purchase gift cards or vouchers for the basket, or donate money that will go toward the purchase of items. Questions? Have an idea for a donation for your class basket?
Thank you to those parents that have volunteered so far.
We are still looking for someone to take on the 5K and 5th grade baskets.
