Junior Parent Night - Tuesday, Oct. 8th
Please join the FMHS Counselors on October 8 at 6:00 pm in the FMHS Cafeteria
for the Junior Information Night ~ parents and students are encouraged to attend.
The counselors will share important information to help navigate the Junior year of high school. Topics include… Junior timeline, graduation requirements, future pathways, college readiness, and more!

AP EXAMS
Is your student currently taking an AP course? It's time to sign up for AP Exams before Nov. 4th
AP students must register now if you want to take an AP exam this May for fall and all year classes. Spring AP courses will open in January. The registration deadline is November 4th at 3:00pm. SENIORS - Are you working on College Applications?
Early Action Deadline Approaching
October 15th and November 1st are the early action deadlines for many schools. Do not wait until the last minute. Allow ample time for supporting documentation such as transcript, letters, etc. to be requested and processed. Check your colleges for specific dates and requirements.

1. Please fill out this form: Counselor Recommendation Packet
2. Make sure you have chosen a deadline for each of the colleges you are applying to.
If you aren't sure if you need a Counselor Recommendation Letter, check your email. Your counselor has most likely emailed you requesting this form to be filled out.
*** when adding your counselor to your Common App, use her @lisd.net email (not @staff.lisd.net)***
FAFSA Opens in December This Year
All seniors must either complete FAFSA or Opt Out in Skyward before graduation in order to comply with state guidelines.

OCTOBER IS RED RIBBON MONTH
It is the vision of the LISD Counseling Services department to work in collaboration with students, staff, parents, and community to continue educational partnerships and conversations that promote awareness and understanding of substance abuse and mental health and remove stigmas related to the situations our students face.
Lewisville ISD is committed to spending the month of October to promote awareness and intervention of substance abuse.

These lessons are in compliance with state mandates that require school districts to educate all students on drug and alcohol awareness (FNCF Legal), early mental health intervention (HB 1386), and character development (Chapter 120 TEKS).
UNT's Go Center
Seniors,
We will have representatives from UNT’s GO Center on our campus on Tuesday, October 15th from 10 am to 12 pm. They are here to help with any college questions, regardless of where you plan to apply to college. They are sending several representatives to our campus so this is a great opportunity to get your questions answered.
How? Just fill out the sign up form below no later than Tuesday morning October 15th by 8:00 am to let us know you would like to meet with a GO Center representative. We will send a pass to your class during your designated time.

Just a reminder that if anyone other than the parent or guardian listed in Skyward is picking up your student, we MUST have an email from you. The email needs to be sent to your student's attendance clerk, include your child's name and the name of the person picking up. *Please note that Emergency contacts are only used in an emergency, not for normal pick up.*

New 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
In May of 2023, Texas became one of 13 states who have enacted legislation to fund and implement the 988 system. In July of 2023, this became available to everyone across the US. Understanding the issues concerning suicide and mental health is an important way to take part in suicide prevention, help others in crisis and change the conversation around suicide.
