Message from Ms. Bratton, principal

Hello Wrangler families,

Next week is GO GOLD week in Comal ISD. The goal of GO GOLD is a concentrated effort to bring attention to and fundraise for a cure for childhood cancers. Our campus has a strong tradition of supporting this effort. Please encourage your Wrangler to participate in this week's special events - details are below.

School pictures are on Friday, Sept. 20th -- these student photos will appear in the yearbook. Don't miss this opportunity to purchase pics of your kiddo. (The middle school pics are usually some of the best because they show how much they've grown!)

Regarding our traffic -- as the work continues on 46, we kindly ask...

* pay attention - we had a wreck recently due to inattention.

* always post your student's number -- if grandma is picking up, create your own number placard with a sharpie... they do not have to use our "official" sign. It helps us SO MUCH to stay in a rhythm if we don't have to stop and ask for a number. Signs = Swift!

It's time for REFLECTIONS! This is a great opportunity for our students to showcase their creative talents. SBMS has a history of HIGH participation and students moving on from the district level to compete at state. Please encourage your Wrangler to be BOLD and put their creative talents our into the world -- see below for all categories! We look forward to SBMS leading the district in this contest!

Ranger Orchestra Spirit Night - Sept 16

The cook at home needs a break! Grab the family and head to The Branch for the Ranger Orchestra Spirit Night on September 16th from 4pm-8:30pm. A donation will be made by The Branch when you mention SVHS Orchestra when you order.

Gifted & Talented Parent Meeting - Sept 19

Are you interested in referring your child for GT services in Comal ISD? Join us on Thursday, September 19 beginning at 6pm at Bill Brown Elementary School Library for an informational meeting to discuss the referral and testing process for the program.

School Picture Day - Sept 20

School picture day is Friday, September 20. Photos will be taken during your student's social studies class. Students were given an order form this week or you can order online.

Immunization Drive - Oct 3

University Health welcomes you to join their Immunization Drive on Thursday October 3rd from 1-4pm at Rebecca Creek Baptist Church. Click here to schedule your appointment.

Reflections entries due Oct 7

It's PTA Reflections time! Showcase your talent in any or all of the following categories: Visual Arts, Literature, Photography, Dance Choreography, Film Production, & Music Composition. Our theme this year is Accepting Imperfection. Entry forms can be found HERE. Contest rules can be found HERE.

All entries are due to Mrs. Womble in the SBMS Library by Monday, October 7th. Contact shayla.womble@comalisd.org with any questions.

Career Day - Nov 15

We are excited to share the many different career opportunities our students could have in the future. There is a future for every student, and we want to help them realize it.

Soup and Spuds Thank You!

Monday night was the annual Soups & Spuds dinner the SBMS PTA organizes for all the teachers and staff who work hard and stay late for the Open House. We 💗 you!

Thank you to everyone who sent in food and volunteered to set up, serve and clean up afterwards. It really does take a village to make it happen and all of you are appreciated! We have the best community.

Student Membership Meeting

On Tuesday, we celebrated our PTA Student Members with our first membership gathering.

Our student members made support ribbons to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and for an SBMS student currently fighting childhood cancer.

Our counselors will be selling these ribbons the week following September 16th to help raise money for Childhood Cancer. The ribbons will be one dollar each and all proceeds will go to help fight childhood cancer.

Keeping with the theme, the student members received Rold Gold pretzels, Goldbear Gummy Bears and a Gold puzzle piece to put on their lanyard to designate them as PTA members. We cannot thank all of our members enough!

It’s never too late to join! Sign up yourself, kids, grandparents, neighbors…anyone can be a PTA member!

Joining PTA doesn’t mean you have to come to meetings or volunteer. You can, and we’d love to have you, but we understand that membership means different things to different people. Your financial contribution helps us advocate for every child!
