Hello Primary Pups!

Hello Primary Pup Families,


Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed St. Patrick's Day, if you celebrate! Our students certainly had a great time making shamrock shakes and following the trail the sneaky leprechauns left behind in each classroom.


Earlier this month, we celebrated "Read Across America" with themed days and guest readers. Some of our staff read to each class and students from Wall Intermediate School came over as well. It was a great time!


As always, we have a lot of events coming up in the next few weeks - check out the important dates below.


Important Dates Coming Up:


  • March 21 -> Rock your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day
  • March 21 -> Mr. Abeal from West Belmar reads to WPS (Sh! He's a mystery reader!)
  • March 31-April 4-> Neurodiversity Week - Check out the themed days listed below
  • April 10th -> Egg Hunt (Thank you WPS PTA for the eggs!)
  • April 11th -> Spring Bonnet Parade, 10:00 am and 1:45 pm



A Note from our PTA:


  • Thank you for participating in our February Dine to Donate at Anthony's! Our next Dine to Donate will be on Tuesday, April 1st at OMG Yogurt. We will also be having a "Mike's Crumb Cake" fundraiser in the coming weeks as well. More information will be shared soon!
  • Save the Date: We will have our PTA sponsored Spring Fling Dance on Friday, April 25th at WIS. More information will be shared soon!
  • Next PTA Meeting: It will be virtual at 8 pm on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025. The link is shared below, on the website, and will be set out the morning of the meeting. We hope to see you there (virtually)!

Staff Spotlight

Meet our School Security Officers

Mr. Ernie

Mr. Ernie is one of our school security officers at WPS. He has been in this role in Wall Township for the last 10 years. Mr. Ernie loves to spend time with his family and go to the beach. He likes Mediterranean food, especially "The Greek Spot." He hopes to one day travel to the Maldives. He also enjoys spending time with his dog "Cookie." We are very lucky to have Mr. Ernie at WPS!

Mr. Jake

Mr. Jake is our other school security officer at WPS. He has been in this role in Wall Township for the last 6 years. He enjoys spending time with his children and 8 grandchildren. He also likes seafood and "Clementine's Restaurant." Mr. Jake hopes to one day travel to the African safari. He also likes spending time with his dog "Maizie." We are very lucky to have Mr. Jake at WPS!

Notes from Nurse Amanda

Nurse Amanda is available for questions about vaccinations, illnesses, or anything else regarding the health of your child. Please remember that all students need to be vaccinated in order to attend school. Click the link below for NJ Vaccination mandates for Preschool students. The due date was December 31, 2024. Please reach out to Nurse Amanda with any questions or concerns you may have.

Activities to Reinforce Letter/Number Identification

A few things to consider...

  • Start with capital letters

  • Start with letters that your child can relate to… something they find interesting or connect with (ex: first letter in their name or family members’ names)

  • Only introduce a few letters at a time (3 to 5)

9 activities to try at home...

  1. Letter or Number Memory Match

  2. Alphabet or Number Go Fish

  3. Alphabet or Number Bingo

  4. Musical Letters or Number- name the letter or number you are on when the music stops

  5. Letter or Number Hide and Seek (hide letters or numbers around a room - when child finds them they name the letter or number)

  6. Build the letter or number out of… playdough, goldfish, pipe cleaners, stamp it with dot art, legos, etc.

  7. Trace the letter or number in… shaving cream, whipped cream, pudding, apple sauce, sand, etc.

  8. Tic Tac Toe - practice with two letters or two numbers

  9. Letter Fly Swat - write a few letters or numbers on large paper or outside with chalk, have child run and swat letter or number with fly swatter when you name it
