Reynolds' Report
Hello Roadrunner Families!
This year, we are very focused on student attendance. We know that consistent school attendance is one of the determining factors of long-term student success. When students miss school, they fall behind, and it takes them extra time to catch up. Students who are at school regularly have higher confidence in their academics and tend to enjoy school more. Plus, we miss them when they are gone!
We know that certain situations may arise that will require your student to be out of school, such as traveling for a family event, anticipated medical treatments, etc. When this occurs, be sure to contact your teacher and our front office to get a travel study agreement for your student.
With a travel study agreement, your student can keep up on their school work and have their attendance excused for the time they are gone.
Remember that travel studies must be requested at least 5 days prior to the students first day of absence. It is also important to note that a student must complete all of the work sent home by the teacher in order to have their attendance excused.
If your student will be absent on short notice, please be sure to contact our office to let us know why. We care a lot about our students and we worry when they aren't at school. Plus, if we know why your student is out, we can code their attendance properly - sometimes these absences can be excused if we know why a student is gone!
We appreciate your help in making sure your Roadrunner comes to school every day!
And speaking of coming to school, be sure your student is here on Thursday, October 31st, bright and early so they can participate in our classroom Trick'o'Treat event at 8:15am.
We are still looking for donations of candy and small non-food trinkets (spooky rings, plastic spiders, etc) to put in our candy buckets and our Teal Pumpkin buckets.
Our Teal Pumpkin buckets ensure that students with food allergies can participate in our Trick'o'Treat event without worrying about their allergies. They love the trinkets, and many students opt to choose trinkets over candy even if they don't have allergies!
Remember, there is no school this Friday, November 1st as we will be gathering for our annual District Inservice Day.
I hope you have a spooky week, Roadrunners!

Box Tops for Education
Box Tops for Education
Box Tops collection continues digitally all year with the Box Tops app. First Street School gets $0.10 for each Box Top scanned for our school. While that isn't much on its own, the whole school community collecting them from Participating Products throughout the year can earn enough to pay for things like software memberships, supplies for classroom activities, or other low cost school support.
- Earn Box Tops for participating products by scanning receipts with the Box Tops app.
- When you shop online or use delivery services, you can earn Box Tops by forwarding your e-receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com or by uploading it with the Box Tops app. Learn more about submitting e-receipts here.

Updated COVID Protocols
Student Quarantine:
Effective this year, California Department of Public Health has replaced most of the requirements about student quarantine with recommendations. The one remaining requirement is that students who are ill must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aide of fever-reducing medications before they are able to return to school. Please see the documents below for more detailed information.
