Administrators' Message
Mrs. Zenovia Lazaruik, Principal
Mrs. Jennifer Erick, Assistant Principal
Mr. Mark Chanasyk, Assistant Principal
It's April now, and the remaining few months will pass quickly. We are also preparing for the next school year as we finish the year. We will gather input from students, parents, and teachers for the next school year's timetable. There will be a timetable parent input meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in person, as well as a virtual option provided to bring ideas for us to consider for the upcoming school year.
If your child is planning to travel on a bus to a different household, we kindly request you to ensure that the bus driver has written permission (note or text) for this arrangement. This is a safety measure we have in place to ensure the well-being of all our students. If the bus driver does not receive a note, your child will not be allowed to ride the bus to the household.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair, a community event that brings us all together, will be held from April 9 to 12 in the Learning Commons. The funds raised during this book fair will help purchase additional books for our students, enriching their learning experience. We sincerely appreciate your support, which is instrumental in making this event successful. Thank you.
We have been dealing with a safety concern regarding students using microwaves to make popcorn. In the fall, there was an incident where smoke from popcorn caused an evacuation, and we had to call the fire department for support. Although we were able to contain numerous other incidents without evacuation, we want to avoid incurring costs to the school or families for fire department support. As well, cleaning up the popcorn residue throughout the school has also become an issue. Therefore, from now on, students will not be allowed to use microwaves to make popcorn. They can instead pop their popcorn at home and bring it to school. However, teachers will still be allowed to pop popcorn for classroom parties.
Thank you to our basketball coaches - Mr. John Blades, Mr. Brad Regehr, Ms. Tanis Miller, Ms. Carrie Leblanc, Ms. Val Rickett, Ms. Ericka Rickett, Ms. Jenn Hill, Mr. Kaden Doerksen, Mr. Tobias Schumacker, and Mr. Damien McLeod - this year for volunteering to coach basketball. Our teams showed significant growth in skill development and sportsmanship. Also congratulations to our Sr. High Boys for placing 11th at provincials. We are proud of all our athletes! Badminton is up and running and we wish our athletes all the best. Thank you to the coaches and Mr. Flasha for getting badminton rolling! The first junior high tournament was Wednesday, April 3!
