EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Ms. Jaime Hayes. Ms. Hayes is one of our elementary Social Workers and spends her time with the students and staff at the MES. This is her first year in the District and she has already made a huge impact on the MES community.
MES Principal, Mrs. Jill Cotreau, noted how positive Ms. Hayes' impact has been on the school culture at the MES when she shared that, "Despite being new to our community, Jaime has seamlessly integrated herself and has demonstrated her dedication to supporting our students' well-being. Her outstanding collaboration skills and deep understanding of children's needs have quickly made her an invaluable asset to our school community. Jaime ensures that every student feels supported and valued. In just a short time, Jaime has made an incredible positive impact on MES."
Congratulations to Ms. Hayes for being our Educator of the Week. She has done so much for the MES in a short period of time and we are fortunate to have her on our team. #WeRMarshfield
SCHOOL PRINCIPALS' DAY
School Principals’ Day is celebrated on May 1 annually to recognize the importance of principals, from elementary to high school, and all the work they do for the betterment of the school.
Principals are the visible leaders at their schools who welcome students and families, support staff, serve as cheerleaders, and set a positive tone for learning. We are fortunate to have an amazing team of building leaders across the District and I want to thank them for their commitment to providing the students of Marshfield with a safe, welcoming and productive learning environment.

Parents and guardians of students who have an IEP and/or 504 plan are invited to learn more about what transition is and how it applies to your special education student. Discussion will include how transition fits into your student's current education, future education, and life after high school. Learn more about what transition looks like at each grade level (elementary, middle, high, and POST Program). Meet with a representative from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission for information on what is available to special education students as they age.
The night will begin in the MHS Presentation Center and then break into grade-level rooms for your choice of more specific transition Q&A sessions.

TIERED FOCUSED MONIITORING REVIEW
During the week of May 6th, 2024 the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE’s) Office of Language Acquisition (OLA) will conduct a Tiered Focused Monitoring Review of Marshfield Public Schools. The Office of Language Acquisition reviews each district’s and charter school’s ELE program every six years to monitor compliance with federal and state English learner education laws and regulations. Areas of review will include English learners’ student assessments, identification of English learners; what programs English learners are placed in, parent and community involvement, curriculum and instruction, student support services, licensure requirements for faculty, staff and administration, program plans, and evaluation and recordkeeping.
In addition to the onsite visit, parent outreach is an important part of the review process. The district will send a survey to the parents of students whose records the review team examines with. The survey focuses on key areas of their child’s English learner education program. Survey results will be reviewed by OLA and they will contribute to the monitoring report.
Parents and other individuals may call David Valade, Office of Language Acquisition Review Chairperson, at (781) 338- 6711 to request a telephone interview. If an individual requires an accommodation, such as translation, to participate in an interview, DESE will make the necessary arrangements.
Within approximately 60 business days of the onsite visit, the review chairperson will provide the (district or charter school) with a report with information about areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools requires assistance to correct or improve practices. The report will be available to the public at https://www.doe.mass.edu/ele/cpr/.
