Beginning Friday, February 2, 2024, FRiES (Fernbrook Reading Is Essential Schoolwide) is a four-week reading competition where students are encouraged to read at home every night. Make sure that each week, your child tracks the minutes they read at home and fill out the Online FRiES Minutes Submission Form. The form for Week #1 opens on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 7:00 AM and will close Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:59 PM. The form link to submit your reading minutes will be the same for all four weeks.
New this year, we have four fun reading challenges, one for each week. If a student completes the reading challenge that week, they will be entered into a drawing to win a certificate for a book that can be redeemed at the Spring Fernbrook Scholastic Book Fair. One winner will be selected per grade at the end of the FRiES Reading program
Save the Date: our FRiES Movie Night Celebration is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2024. Only those families that submit a FRiES Minutes Submission Form (at least one week out of the four) will be invited to attend and celebrate their reading participation.

Hero Dance: Friday, February 9, 2024 | 7:00-9:00 PM
Come and join other Fernbrook families at the First Annual Hero Dance Event at the Fernbrook School Gym. Fernbrook Students will have the opportunity to bring "their hero" (one guest per Fernbrook Student, 18 years or older) and dance the night away. We encourage you to "dress to Impress!"
There will be a live DJ, Photo Booth and a craft table to make Valentine's Day cards for Brightview. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase (cash only).
This event is open to current Fernbrook students only. Additionally, only one Hero (adult 18 years or older) per child will be admitted. Space is limited so sign up soon!

The only way the Fernbrook PTO can put on these events is with the help from volunteers. We have an amazing committee for the Hero Dance but will need extra hands to help with the setup, clean up, concession stand and other various activities at the dance.
