Cultivating Compassion at Riverside
At Riverside Elementary, we are committed to nurturing not only the minds but also the hearts of our students. In the spirit of compassion, generosity, and helping others, we will be placing a donation jar in the front office for students who wish to contribute their spare change to support one of our Riverside families who recently lost their home in a fire.
This is a meaningful opportunity for our students to show kindness and take action to support others in need. Together, even the smallest acts can make a big difference.

Important Update – Moving to a Cashless Campus for 2025–2026
Important Update – Moving to a Cashless Campus for 2025–2026
Beginning next school year, Riverside Elementary will be going 100% cashless, in alignment with a district-wide directive from Central Office. This means that we will no longer be able to accept cash for any school-related purchases or fundraisers.
As a result, we will need to discontinue traditional fundraisers such as goodie sales and free dress days, which have historically been a primary source of funding for our Principal’s Account.
Moving forward, we will need to be creative and strategic in how we fundraise. One idea being explored by other schools is a World’s Famous Chocolate fundraiser, where each student receives two boxes to sell, and families have the option to pay in installments.
We will be meeting soon to brainstorm fundraising alternatives that align with the cashless requirement while still supporting student and campus needs. Your ideas and support will be essential as we navigate this transition together!
Actualización Importante – Transición a un Campus Sin Efectivo para el Ciclo Escolar 2025–2026
A partir del próximo ciclo escolar, Riverside Elementary será un campus 100% sin manejo de efectivo, conforme a una directiva del Distrito emitida por la Oficina Central. Esto significa que ya no podremos aceptar efectivo para compras escolares ni recaudaciones de fondos.
Como resultado, tendremos que descontinuar las recaudaciones tradicionales como las ventas de golosinas y los días de vestimenta libre, que anteriormente eran una fuente principal de ingresos para el Fondo de la Dirección.
De ahora en adelante, necesitaremos ser creativos y estratégicos en la manera en que recaudamos fondos. Una idea que otras escuelas ya están implementando es la venta de chocolates World’s Famous, donde a cada estudiante se le entregan dos cajas para vender, y las familias pueden pagar en cuotas.
Próximamente realizaremos una reunión para generar ideas sobre alternativas de recaudación que cumplan con esta nueva norma sin dejar de apoyar a nuestros estudiantes y necesidades escolares. ¡Su apoyo e ideas serán fundamentales mientras hacemos esta transición juntos!

Cell Phone and Social Media Policy
Cell Phone Policy for Elementary Students
No Use During Instructional Day: Elementary students are not permitted to use cellphones during the instructional day. cell phones must remain in a student’s book bag where they cannot be seen or heard.
Restricted Use During Specific Times: Under no circumstances shall students use or access an electronic communication device during assemblies, emergency drills, or other school evacuations.
Pictures: under no circumstances shall students be allowed to photograph students, faculty or staff without their permission.
Returning Confiscated Phones: If a student’s cell phone is confiscated, it will be returned to parents at the end of the school day. After the third violation of this policy, the item will be confiscated and returned to parents on a stipulated date or returned to the student at the end of the school year.
Social Media Policy for Elementary Students
Account Creation: Students may not open social media accounts under the names of other peers, faculty, or staff members. Impersonation is strictly prohibited and will be met with appropriate disciplinary action.
Cyberbullying: Cyberbullying, including but not limited to, harassment, threats, or any form of bullying conducted via social media platforms, is strictly prohibited. Any instances of cyberbullying brought to the attention of the student and parents will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken.
General Conduct: Students are expected to use social media responsibly and respectfully. Any behavior that disrupts the learning environment or compromises the safety and well-being of others will not be tolerated.

This policy is designed to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive school community. Adhering to these guidelines will help protect all students and staff from potential harm and ensure a positive atmosphere conducive to learning and growth.
