Message From the Principal
Hi BW Families,
We are busy preparing to welcome back our 6th graders next Monday and the building has been abuzz with activity! While we are excited to see kids again, we are also mindful about the interesting times we are living in. I want to reassure you that we have been working around the clock to prepare the building, design and build optimal schedules and stay mindful about creating an engaging, yet physically distanced space for our kids to engage safely. Today’s newsletter will contain information for the 6th graders who are returning to the building on Monday (11/9) but will also be relevant for 7th and 8th grade families who will be returning as well. There is a slight change to the classes that kids who are returning to the building are taking. In the last webinar, we shared that kids would be taking their core classes when in the building. After many thoughtful conversations, our committee wanted to honor movement for kids and instead of having social studies in person, kids will now have a PE class. Please remind your kids to dress for the weather. In addition to having PE, kids will also have breaks outside as much as possible, weather permitting.
I know we are living in times of uncertainty with multiple decisions that are often interconnected with each other. With that, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support kids and their families as we navigate school together.
With gratitude,
Grace
Bus Information
If your child will be riding the bus, the bus route and time has been mailed out. However, sometimes our mail can be delayed for one reason or another. If you do not receive it in the mail, you can also find your bus route and time information in SIS. If you need help, please call the main office at 314-290-4280.
Our bus company has shared that the following protocols will be used for our buses:
· Students and drivers will wear masks
· Bus drivers will have a health screening with daily temperature checks
· Buses will load from rear to front
· Students from the same household will sit together
· Windows will remain open, weather permitting
· Hand sanitizer will be available on the buses
· High touch areas on buses will be wiped down in between routes and buses will be disinfected each night
Return to School Handbook
The Return to School Handbook, will be able to share some of the changes to our typical school practices. Please read through with your child in order to prepare for some of the changes they will see at school.

Schedules
6th Grade NEW Schedules
Monday, November 9th, 6th grade schedules will change to our hybrid model:
If your 6th grader chose to return IN-PERSON, they will attend school on Mon/Tues (Cohort A) or Thurs/Fri (Cohort B). School starts at 7:50am and dismisses at 2:20pm.
To allow movement for in-person students, social studies and PE classes will swap days:
Cohort A Social Studies will be on Thurs/Friday & PE on Mon/Tues
Cohort B Social Studies will be on Mon/Tues & PE on Thurs/Fri
ELA, math, science & PE classes will change times & extend from 45 min to 80 min
ELA & math will happen only on Mon/Tues for Cohort A & Thurs/Fri for Cohort B
TAGD & ELA Lab will happen on the same days as students’ elective classes
Here is a schedule with times by Cohort. ELA, math, science, PE class times have changed, but Zoom links will remain the same.
Check TylerSIS and your email for your Cohort and updated schedule.
Here is a class Schedule Template that can be filled out with your updated schedule.
Have your child attend Advisory on Monday morning to review changes to their schedule!
For our virtual students, the BW Learning Hub will still be home base for zoom links and information.
Finally, please click on this link for a visual calendar for the Hybrid Schedule. We hope it will be a helpful visual as we prepare to go into in person school and virtual school.
