Caldwell School District Update
From Superintendent Dr. N. Shalene French
July 19, 2024
Message from the Superintendent
Dear Caldwell Families,
We are looking forward to the First Day of School on August 14 - It's the most important day of the year! We invite all of you to celebrate with us as we welcome the incoming Class of 2037 (our new Kindergarten students) and all our students who are returning with high expectations for the school year.
School is an exciting time in a child's life. They make friends, participate in class activities, and may participate on teams. They study, learn, play, and have fun! We invite you to participate with us as we prepare to welcome our students back to school in a few weeks.
Remember:
- Every new school year is an invitation to success.
- At heart, every student wants to be invited [and belong].
- People [students] want to be affirmed in their present value and invited to realize their potential.
- The door to a student’s heart opens quietly; waiting to be invited to the classroom, to the lesson, and to the world. Listen carefully ... (Dr. William W. Purkey and Betty Siegel)

2024 Summer Graduates
The Class of 2024 added 10 new graduates on Thursday, June 27, 2024. During summer school, these students completed a total of 37 credits to reach their goal of earning their high school diploma.
"Our summer school program allows students to work at their own pace," said Brennan Wurtz, Advanced Opportunity Summer School Administrator. "Students are really motivated to complete their work, and sometimes students even take additional classes after finishing other courses."
Congratulations Class of 2024!

Migrant Summer School
During the month of July, 240 students in grades Pre-K through 6th are focused on Exploration Education! through our Migrant Summer School Program. Students receive additional academic instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and science (specifically the solar system and the earth's oceans). Students also enjoy enrichment activities in art and music.
"Every Friday, students participate in a field trip that ties into our Exploration Education! focus," said Eric Davis, Migrant Summer School Administrator. "This opportunity allows students to engage in their learning while navigating what it means to 'work as a team', develop their leadership skills, and think critically about the world around them."
The goal of our Migrant Education Program is to level the educational playing field, ensuring all migrant students receive enriching and appropriate educational opportunities, and empowering them to succeed and thrive despite the challenges they face.

Safety Update
Summer Safety Tips
Summer Basics
Because it can be such a busy time, don’t forget your usual summer safety protocols. This means lathering on sunscreen before going to the town parade and bringing along water bottles for the whole family. If your child is swimming, you should exercise the same precautions as you would any other day during the summer.
