BUILDING ON STRENGTHS & FILLING BUCKETS!
The school year continues to fly by at record speed! March is upon us, which means that Spring Break and State Testing is just around the corner. It is a busy time of year at the school.
At the end of February, students took their 3rd Benchmark Assessments. Many of our students showed positive growth! We are proud of how hard students are working and the effort they are putting in!
Our 3rd-5th grade students will begin their State Testing the end of March and continue into mid-April. State testing is not an option, all students in grades 3rd-5th are required by the state to participate. Miss Denise will be administering the tests to the students. The students not testing will be doing other projects so they do not disturb the students testing.
The students are working on a special project to present to their families at the Family Poetry Lunch on March 13th! We hope you will be able to join us. Please RSVP through the Event in Class Dojo so we can ensure we have plenty of food for everyone. Please note there will be no after school on this day.
Spring Break is March 14-21, 2025. School will be closed during the break. If you need to reach us, please use Class Dojo to send a message.
Pre-Registration has started for the 2025-2026 school year. If you have not returned your form, please do so ASAP. The incentive to refer families and receive a computer is still in effect. If you have any questions, please let me know.
I hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break! We look forward to the students return on March 24th.
😀THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2025 @ 11:45 am😀
Join us on Thursday, March 13, 2025, for a special lunch and presentation from our students. Students have been working on special poems to present to their families. Come listen to the children share their poems and present them to their families, then enjoy a yummy lunch of Lasagna with your child!
Please RSVP in the Class Dojo Event. You can either sign up the amount of times that equal the number of family members attending OR write in the comments how many will be joining us. We want to make sure we have plenty of food for everyone to enjoy!
We look forward to you joining us for this special presentation!
As a reminder, Academy Adventures Midtown is part of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. All students eat for free. If you chose to send a breakfast or lunch with your child, please remember the following:
- No Fast Food
- No Potato Chips of any kind
- Only Water or 100% Juice for drinks
- No Candy, Cake, Cookies, etc.
- We cannot refrigerate or warm up any food
Any foods that fall into the categories above will be collected and sent home at the end of the day with the child.
Please Note: If your child brings lunch, then we do not give them a school lunch. Students must take the whole tray, even if they do not want all of the items on it. They do not have to eat them, but they do have to take them. We can only serve full trays for both breakfast and lunch.
If you have any questions regarding breakfast or lunch, please contact Mrs. Angela.
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
We are seeing an increase in Tardies again. Please make a conscious effort to have your children at school by 8:15 AM (8:00 AM if they are going to eat breakfast). Attendance is crucial to your child's academic success. Your child arriving on time, makes a difference on how their day goes.
As a reminder, core instruction (Math, Reading & Language Arts) is done first thing in the morning. If your child arrives late, they are missing very important academic instruction. Missing the direct core instruction from the teacher causes students to get behind and feel lost and/or frustrated. It is very important to arrive at school BEFORE 8:15 AM. If your child will be eating breakfast they must arrive before 8:00 AM.
REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR 2025-2026!!
Re-Registration forms went home during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please make sure to return them as soon as possible to save your child's seat. We are opening registration up to the general public.
We want to continue to provide the best education we can to your children by offering small class sizes that focus on positive behaviors and build on each child's individual strengths. To continue to provide this opportunity to our students, we need to increase our enrollment. Our goal is to grow the school by 15-20 students. A safe, positive learning environment will continue to be our focus, allowing every child to build on their strengths and become confident, excited learners. We are still offering the free laptops to referring and enrolling families.
If you have any questions regarding the program, please speak with Mrs. Angela or Miss Denise. Thank you for your continued support!
Dear Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and thriving! As we move further into the school year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our students' success.
Important Announcements:
Sleep Matters: As a friendly reminder, please ensure your child(ren) gets plenty of sleep. Many students come in tired and struggle throughout the day. This affects their learning and stamina for the school day.
State Standards Testing: It is hard to believe how quickly this school year has gone by! Upper elementary students will be taking the state standards beginning at the end of March. It is very important that they get plenty of rest leading up to these assessments.
Celebrations from the Week:
February was a month of academic strides in all areas! Our students engaged deeply in their studies, particularly learning about Tucson's rich history of the Rodeo. They explored not only the local significance of the Rodeo but also its overall history, which sparked enthusiasm and curiosity in our classrooms.
Additional Information:
As we approach the upcoming state testing, we encourage families to continue fostering a supportive home environment. Engaging in discussions about what students are learning can enhance their understanding and retention.
We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with you. Your support at home is invaluable in helping our students reach their full potential.
Looking Ahead:
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for our children. We look forward to continued collaboration and celebrating more achievements together in the coming weeks!
IMPORTANT DATES!
Family Involvement is an important part of our school! Below are a few opportunities for you to participate. You are also welcome to come by anytime to observe or have lunch with your child. Please make sure to sign in and out.
- FAMILY LUNCH EVENT
- Thursday, March 13, 2025 ! 11:45 AM
As a reminder, please make sure that your cell phone is turned off when you are on campus. Cell phones are not allowed in the school / classroom, around the lunch/breakfast area or on the playground. Focus when on campus is on the students!
📱TURN THOSE NOTIFICATIONS ON!📱
It is essential that all families are getting Class Dojo Notifications. This is the NUMBER 1 way we communicate with families and the fastest way we can get emergency information out to you. Please make sure you have notifications turned on. Sending a message through Class Dojo is also the quickest way to get a response from Miss Denise or Mrs. Angela.
If you have any issues with Class Dojo, please contact the school. Please note, you are NOT required to pay for Class Dojo. We only use the free portion. The paid version is optional and not required.
Tucson weather has definitely been unpredictable this year! Please make sure that your child is bringing a sweater/jacket for the cool/cold mornings. Preferably something they can take off later in the day as it warms up. We have moved snack and meals inside during this cold time so the children have limited time in the cold.
Students who are sick are required to stay home 48 hours with no symptoms, unless you obtain a note from a doctor saying it is safe for them to return to school. If your child is complaining of not feeling well and/or appears to be exhibiting excessive coughing, running noses, stomach issues, etc. you will be called to pick them up. The 48 hours with no symptoms applies. All this information can be found in the Student Family Handbook you received at registration.
We continue to keep your child(ren)'s safety a priority. Cameras are up outside around the building and the front door and gates remain locked during the school hours, unless there is a staff member monitoring them (i.e. before/after school).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the health and safety practices of the school, please do not hesitate to speak with Mrs. Angela.
BUILDING CONFIDENT LEARNERS!
Academy Adventures Midtown is passionate about supporting academic and emotional growth in each child. Cloud9 World provides many skills to help our students deal with every day situations occurring in their lives at school or at home. We have seen an increase in our students confidence and how they interact with one another. We will continue to build positive learning behaviors and an environment that fosters student well-being. There are resources for parents as well! We will continue to share the monthly strength resources in the newsletter. If you have any questions, please reach out to Miss Denise.
During the month of March, students will focus on Confidence. According to Cloud9 World,
confidence is trusting that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens. You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things without letting doubt or fear hold you back. When you have faith in yourself you are a confident person.
The horse represents the power of self-confidence, the reward of dedication, and the importance of believing in yourself.
In February, students will focused on Integrity. According to Cloud9 World, integrity is working hard to live by your highest values. It is being honest, sincere, and acting with conscience. You tell the truth and you do the right thing, even if doing wrong would be easier. Integrity gives you self-respect and a peaceful heart. When your actions match your words, you are acting with integrity. Integrity is living by your highest values. It is being honest and sincere. Integrity helps you to listen to your conscience, to do the right thing, and to tell the truth. You act with integrity when your words and actions match. Integrity gives you self-respect and a peaceful heart. The giraffe represents strength of spirit, the value of integrity and the importance of commitment.
Below are some resources that you can use at home with your child.
