2,394 PAIRS OF SOCKS DONATED!👏👏👏
Our annual sock drive was an incredible success thanks to our generous school community! Together we collected an amazing 2,394 pairs of socks to help those in need. Special recognition goes to Dr. Shaw's fifth grade class who took on the important task of sorting and bagging all the donations. Dr. Shaw then delivered the socks to the St. Vincent DePaul shelter in Waterbury, where they will help keep our neighbors warm this winter. This outpouring of support shows how our small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community.
Dr. Shaw's 5th Grade Class.
Jack and Noah collected hundreds of socks from neighbors and businesses.
Kataliena donated a few hundred pairs of socks.
OCTOBER WARMTH BROUGHT LEARNING OUTDOORS
Fourth Grade students put their problem-solving skills to the test during an outdoor Halloween-themed escape room challenge. Working together in the beautiful October sunshine, classes cracked codes and solved spooky puzzles to "escape" before time ran out. The warm weather provided the perfect setting for this exciting blend of critical thinking and seasonal fun.
LOST AND FOUND
Take a look – our lost and found is overflowing. We have dozens of jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes and other items waiting to be claimed. While you're here for conferences this week, please check the lost and found items displayed on the stage. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the month.
PUMPKINS CAME TO LIFE
Thank you to all our students who participated in the Storybook Character Pumpkin Decorating contest! We were impressed by both the high number of entries and the creative ways students brought their favorite book characters to life. The decorated pumpkins brightened our library and showed just how imaginative our students can be when given the chance to combine art with their favorite stories.
IT'S BACK!
Get excited for the Scholastic Book Fair at LMES from November 12-15, featuring extended hours on Tuesday (9am-6pm), regular hours Wednesday-Thursday (9am-3pm), and early hours Friday (7:30am-12pm starting during Muffin Mates)! Don't forget to "Share the Fair," and allow your extended family to donate through eWallet to help every student take home a book, and as always, all purchases benefit our school. For easy shopping, set up your student's digital eWallet account in advance, volunteer through our SignUpGenius link, or shop online with free shipping on book orders over $25.
Contact Book Fair Co-Chairs Lindsey Donato or Michelle Sokolowski with any questions.

UPCOMING VETERAN'S DAY CEREMONY
On Monday, November 11th, Long Meadow Elementary School will honor veterans during an assembly for students around 9:20 in the cafeteria, followed by a parade and classroom visits.
We invite all veterans related to LMES families (moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, former students, etc.) to participate in our celebration. Veterans can choose to participate by either (a) attending the whole school tribute to Veterans, (b) visiting classrooms and speaking to students about their service, or (c) both. Please click the link below if you or a Veteran you know is willing to participate in this important educational opportunity.

Guest Veterans are invited to join us for coffee and light refreshments in the Media Center before the assembly beginning at 8:45 am. We will have some fifth-grade students at the front entrance to escort you to our Media Center once you enter the building.
We look forward to this celebration, which will remind us to pause and reverently thank those who have served our country.
MUFFIN MATES RETURNS TO LMES
The LMES PTO is excited for the return of Muffin Mates for students, parents and siblings! Muffin Mates will offer an opportunity for the students of LMES to invite a parent or special person to share breakfast with them. Siblings are welcome! Muffins, fresh fruit, orange juice, milk and coffee will be served in the cafetorium. There will be a $3.00 charge per person attending ($4 per person if paid at the door). All proceeds go to the LMES PTO.
Please send the reservation form below, ALONG WITH YOUR PAYMENT, with your child to school in an envelope marked “PTO Muffin Mates” by Wednesday, November 6th.
CAR PICK-UPS
Thank you to all our families for using the car line for student pick-up!
We've noticed that during busy days, our pick-up line extends beyond the parking lot onto North Benson Road. If you arrive for pick-up and see cars waiting on North Benson, please join the line there rather than turning directly into the parking lot. This ensures fairness for all families and helps our dismissal process run smoothly.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our pick-up procedure safe and efficient for everyone.
EAT OUT AND SUPPORT LMES
MAC & CHEESE DRIVE
Sponsored by 2nd Grade
for the month of November
The LMES PTO has once again partnered with the Southbury Food Bank and the Middlebury Food Pantry in an effort to keep the mac & cheese shelves stocked. Each moth, different grade levels will be invited to donate to this worthy cause. This month will be sponsored by our 2nd grade families.
As always, thank you for your generosity. LMES families are the BEST!
