October 2024
Chief School Administrator
Welcome Back, MTS Students!!
MTS is off to a fantastic school year. We had an amazing whole school experience at Tomanamus.
One of the significant MTS goals in 2024-2025 is to focus on student attendance. Regular school attendance is vital for children’s education and overall development.
Parents, please continue to send your child to MTS on a regular basis. We appreciate your continued support.
Important Update:
Friday, December 13, 2024, is a regular Friday schedule for students.
Friday, December 20, 2024 is a professional development day for staff only. No School for Students.
The updated calendar attached to this Newsletter will reflect the above changes.
Tomanamus Day
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Early Release time is at 12:30pm on Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th.
Elementary
Our new elementary Tribal School Afterschool program is Right at School, it started on 9/30. You can register at https://www.rightatschool.com/registration/?school=muckleshoot-tribal-school&designation=District%20Paid
The elementary had a wonderful time at Tomanamus Day with supervised archery, rock climbing, fishing, and talking with vendors. There were lots of smiling faces and fun.
Mark your calendars, Parent - Teacher conferences are October 10th and 11th. Your students teacher will be contacting you to set up a student conference.
Secondary
I’m happy to announce that with the change in weather, the MTS Library will be an open space for secondary students to meet, before school and during lunches.
In other great news, Janet Cockerham-Twigg will be rejoining the secondary staff as our Vice Principal.
I look forward to meeting and seeing everyone at Tomanamous Day and also at our parent/teacher conferences.
Security
Security will be following a new check-in protocol at the main gate entry. All parents, visitors and guests will need to provide their first name and reason for visit. All information, including vehicle license plates will be logged in the security log book. This is an additional security measure to ensure the safety of all students and staff on the MTS campus.
Nurses Station
Make sure your child is up-to-date on immunizations. Keep your child home, if sick, to prevent further spread as we enter cold & flu season. Dental screenings will be held Oct 22nd & 23rd for elementary students. We will also be beginning vision and hearing screenings for elementary students; please make sure they have their glasses if they are to be wearing them at school.
Activities
NYCP is gearing up to start our 2024-2025 programming! Here are a few opportunities we have coming up, be sure to look out for more!
No Place for Hate
We were honored to present our No Place for Hate official banner to the Executive Education Officials. In October we will retake the pledge and double our efforts to make Muckleshoot Tribal School a safe and inclusive environment for all our students.
