Weekly Update to Families
November 22, 2024
Message from the Principal
Goodwater families,
As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude once again to all of you for being such an integral part of our school community. This year, more than ever, we are thankful for the support, dedication, and collaboration that make our school a special place for our students.
I hope that this break provides your family with the opportunity to rest, reflect, and spend time together. It’s a time to appreciate the many blessings in our lives, and we are grateful for the continued partnership between home and school.
Please take this time to recharge, and we look forward to welcoming our students back after the break for the final stretch of the semester.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful Thanksgiving!

Giving Tuesday at Goodwater
Giving Tuesday is on Tuesday, December 3rd!
Have you heard of Giving Tuesday? It’s a global day of giving, and it’s a great opportunity to make a difference in your community by donating to the causes you care about. Giving Tuesday occurs every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. With your help, we hope to raise $20,000, which will go toward the Goodwater Fund. The Goodwater Fund provides funding for important priorities such as technology for teachers and students, improvements to campus facilities, updated curricula, teacher professional development, and many more annual needs.
Here is the link if you would like to donate. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
Message from Dr. Bruce
Dear Goodwater Montessori Families,
As we begin the Thanksgiving holiday, please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable break. I sincerely hope that over the next week you are able to spend time on things that bring you and your family together with happiness.
In this season of gratitude, thank you for your continued support of your children's education at Goodwater. I am pleased to see the many accomplishments of our students thanks to their efforts, the hard work, and commitment of our Board, administration, volunteers, educators, and support staff; in particular, I want to say how much I appreciate everything you do to ensure a strong partnership between home and school. This partnership is perhaps our greatest asset when it comes to achieving the goals for which we strive. I cannot say thank you enough.
Support from our families is extremely important and I am thankful that our support is strong. Families are important to our school and all of your efforts are so appreciated. The volunteers that commit each day to come and support our students and the volunteers that support our evening events make the world of difference. Thanks for all that you do to partner with Goodwater Montessori School.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating, and safe travels to those traveling.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. Bruce

Montessori Beyond the Classroom
Everyday objects and toys
Materials in the Montessori classroom range from everyday household items to scientifically designed learning materials that inspire children to conceptualize and create an understanding of the world around them.
The same philosophy of using simple and functional furniture applies to the materials in your home Montessori environment. Plastic play kitchens are replaced with appropriately sized actual kitchenware and utensils. With Montessori education, the goal is for children to learn through authentic experiences.
Using everyday household objects also teaches an important lesson: responsibility. Children learn to treat their things and possessions of their friends and family with care when those items are breakable or fragile.
