May 12, 2024
Greetings Central Heights Students and Families,
Monday, May 13th is an A-day. Remember, there is no school for students on Friday, May 17th. Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter! If there is anything you would like to see in our newsletter or questions you have about school that may help other families learn more about school, please be sure to reach out and ask!
Fastbridge Testing for all grades will occur on May 15th and May 16th, 2024. All literacy testing will be taken on May 15th. All Math testing will be taken on May 16th. Makeups for the Fastbridge will take place May 20th and May 21st. There will be no electronic devices allowed in testing areas
Please remind your student to bring their chromebook home each night after school AND charge it. Students are struggling to keep their chromebooks charged, which creates a lot of distractions in learning. As a reminder, here is the Digital Device Agreement that students signed at the beginning of the year: Student Digital Device Agreement
Attention families of our current 8th graders:
Greetings future Sun Prairie East Cardinals,
We are excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year! We hope you will take advantage of opportunities to help your child make this transition. Listed below are some activities that will take place over the coming months. All events will take place at Sun Prairie East High School.
This week, your student received the following printout from the Madison Mallards. Here is the information in case it didn’t make it home:
Student Nutrition Department Cook’s Corner
April and May have been busy months. Our great team is introducing May Heritage Days themed meals at all grade levels. Several times this month we will be serving meals featuring the different cultures here at SPASD. In May we focus on Hispanic, Indian, Asian and Hmong cuisines.
Our new recipes were created by many of the staff on the Nutrition Team. Staff members attended a Cook’s Camp in April to test the menu items we will feature. The recipes and tastings resulted in changing roasted corn to steamed corn for a fresher look and taste of Mexican Street Corn. Our Hmong Beef Larb was very salty. Reducing the salt resulted in a better product. The color of this dish with radishes, green onions, shredded carrots and cilantro is very appealing as well.
The following days we will proudly serve our new heritage day menus:
May 14: Latino - Burrito Bowls, Fiesta Beans, Fruit Choice
May 16: Indian - Chicken Vindaloo, White Rice, Roasted Green Beans, Tropical Fruit
May 23: Asian - Chicken Egg Rolls, Asian Rice, Roasted Broccoli, Pineapple Orange Salad
May 30: Hmong - Beef Larb, White Rice, Roasted Broccoli, Banana
Our goal is to serve more menus featuring our rich heritage. Help us promote these days with your students.
