HELLO December!!

This month we will be visiting classrooms and working with students on different topics based on grade level need. Aside from the topic needed to be covered, we will be discussing with all students the following. Managing emotions; problem solving skills and what success looks like.

You can help reinforce what students are learning from the counselors by practicing some of the following at home.

✔️ Promote Positive Emotions = When facing fear, disappointment or rejection having a positive outlook offers a better state of mind.

✔️ Develop Problem Solving Skills = Take opportunities to show your child as times arise to develop skills that will assist them in solving problems.

✔️ Learn to Succeed By Learning to Fail = Focus on shifting mindsets and help your child to see the learning experienced from something they have failed at.

The mission of the De Zavala Counseling Department is to collaborate with stakeholders to promote kindness, compassion and respect among the entire student body by providing them with the social emotional tools needed to assist with real-life experiences.

The vision of the De Zavala Counseling Department is to empower all students in reaching their maximum potential and becoming responsible, contributing 21st century leaders. Through our comprehensive counseling program, we will address academic, social emotional and career goals which will empower their college, career, military and emotional readiness.
