Message from the Principal, Sandra Calkins
Dear Mission View families-
As we approach the end of the third quarter, we would like to reflect on the growth and accomplishments our students have made thus far. It’s been an exciting year full of learning and achievement, and we are so proud of the progress your child has made. As we prepare for the start of the fourth quarter, we want to highlight some important events and share a few tips to help support your child in the coming weeks.
Important Dates to Remember:
Awards Ceremony - March 21 (By Invitation only)
We will be hosting a special ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of our students in the third quarter. On March 21, we will recognize students who have shown outstanding progress in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Social Skills. Invitations will be sent on Monday, March, 17th to those who will be recognized and we encourage you to join us for this event as we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students!
Spring Break - March 7-14
Please note that Spring Break will take place from March 7-14. This will be a wonderful time for our students to rest and recharge before finishing out the school year strong.
Looking Ahead:
As we begin the final stretch of the school year, we are excited about all the growth and learning that will take place. The fourth quarter is a time to continue building on the skills students have developed, and we are confident that with your support, our students will finish the year strong.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making this a successful year for all of our students. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
After School Program updates; 21st CCLC H.O.W.L (Helping Out with Learning)
We wanted to keep you informed about the updates to our after-school programs:
Puppets Club: The last day of Puppets Club will be March 18th. After that, students who were part of the Puppets Club will transition to Tutoring or Mariachi on Tuesdays, depending on their schedule.
Mariachi & Tutoring: Students enrolled in Mariachi or Tutoring will continue attending their respective sessions on Tuesdays once the Puppets Club concludes. Please ensure your child attends regularly to stay on track.
Folklorico: Our Folklorico dancers are continuing their practice in preparation for their upcoming performance in May. Keep an eye out for more details as the event approaches!
Mariachi Conference: The Mariachi Conference is scheduled for April 23rd, 24th, and 25th. We are excited for our students to participate in this enriching event. Applications for La Frontera scholarships for students to participate in the Mariachi Conference have been submitted. The participants selected will be based on student attendance and behavior.
Thank you for your continued support in making our after-school programs a success! Should you have any questions or need further details, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
THANK YOU to all who volunteered in your child's classroom during our Love of Reading event. This event was from Monday, February 10th - Friday, February 14th.
Join us for our extended February and March Fundraiser event! We will be partnering with Krispy Kreme to raise some "DOUGH" for our school. Each classroom will be competing to see which classroom can raise the most "DOUGH" for our school. We will have a K-2 classroom winner and a 3-5 classroom winner. So far, we have been able to raise $448.17 our of our $1,500 goal. Please share the information with your families, friends, and co-workers to help us reach our goal. View the Krispy Creme School Fundraiser webpage.
It's as easy as 3 steps:
1- Order using your child's specific link
2-Visit your nearest Krispy Kreme store
3- Show the employee the codes sent to your email
Enjoy the donuts now or save for later. The codes to redeem donuts do not expire! Buy now and enjoy throughout the year. Feel good knowing that you are helping our school earn $7.50 per dozen that are ordered. The money is used for our school Tiendita, purchasing each student a book during Love of Reading week, buying thank you guest for our Love of Reading guest readers, providing our 3-5 students snacks, gums or mints during state testing, purchasing decorations for our 5th grade promotion, and much more. Your support is appreciated!
Please join us for our PTA meeting on March 25th at 3:00pm. Snacks will be provided and a raffle for attendees. At our next PTA meeting, we will be finalizing plans for our upcoming Field Day and Spring Fundraiser event "Raising Cane's". Please join us in sharing your voice to making these upcoming events successful! We hope to see you at our meeting.

Counselor's Corner
The Character Strong life skill for March is cooperation. We’ll be doing activities in social emotional learning where we work together on shared goals. How do we cooperate during a game? How do we cooperate when we have problems or disagreements? What are our talents and strengths and how do we make sure that we include every person? How do we use those talents when we are working or playing on a team? How do we share the work equally on a project? How do we take turns being the leader? What does conflict resolution look like when you need to work together and cooperate with each other?
You could talk about cooperation when you’re doing family chores. You also could share how you need to cooperate with others at your workplace.
Speaking of teamwork, I love the way the staff at Mission View work together and support one another. I think the climate here is exceptional and I’m sure your children can feel that as well.
Feel free to email or talk to me whenever you are available. I’d love to meet the families of all the students here.
Happy relationships!
Your counselor,
Jan Milligan
