Board of Education Student of the Month
Congratulations to Elyse Haas!
Students of the Week
Our character trait of the month is responsibility. These students were leaders in representing our October character trait!
Spook-tacular Read-a-Thon
This is a friendly reminder about the Franklin PTO's Spook-tacular Read-a-Thon! This fun and educational event is a fantastic way to inspire a love of reading while raising funds to support our amazing students and teachers.
Reading Logs:
- Students should be tracking the minutes they spend reading outside of school until Sunday, October 20th on the tracking sheet that was sent home last week.
- The tracking sheet can be downloaded here if you need another copy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y-lx8bIUCUA0IQvccVwVCdsi0hN9rl1c/view?usp=sharing
- Completed tracking sheets are due back at school on Monday, October 21st!
How to Donate:
- Visit our fundraising page: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/franklinel102
- Type in your student’s name. (Don’t forget to share their teacher’s name if there’s another student with the same first name and last initial!)
- You can choose to make a flat donation or donate based on the number of minutes your child reads.
- Share your student’s unique link with family and friends to encourage more support!
- We are getting closer to our goal of raising $6,000! Thank you for all of your support!
Prizes!
- Overall Top Reader: Win an exciting ride to school in a police car!
- Top-Reading Class: Celebrate with cookie decorating and a dance party!
- Everyone who participates will receive a special Halloween bookmark as a thank you!
Where Does the Money Go?
Funds support events like the Fall Festival, Bingo Night, and STEM materials. Last year, we spent over $28,000 on Franklin students and teachers!
Let’s foster a love of reading in our students with our Read-a-Thon. Thank you for your support!
Red Ribbon Week
Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat
Don't forget to send in your RSVPs! We currently have 26 vehicles signed up, but with a big turnout expected, we're hoping for more decorated trunks to join the fun. If you're interested, we'd love for you to participate and make the event even more exciting!
Character Dress Up Day Parade and Class Parties
Our annual Character Dress Up Day Parade and Class Parties will be held on Thursday, October 31. I would suggest getting to Franklin at 2:00pm if you want to view the parade so you have time to find parking and walk to the building. The students will begin lining up for the parade at 2:20.
- Classroom party times will be sent out by teachers. Most classes will have their parties right after the parade, but some may have a different time.
Students may wear their costume for the day as long as it is not disruptive to their school day. If students need to change into their costume, they must be able to do so independently. No weapons of any kind may be brought in with costumes.
Students are encouraged to bring a book with them which represents their character.
Costumes should be school appropriate.
Family Members are welcome to come watch the parade outside the building.
Scheduled Classroom Volunteers will sign in at the office doors and head to classrooms to set up for parties during the parade. Only those scheduled volunteers are able to go to classrooms following the parade. Your child's homeroom teacher will be in contact with you about party details.

October 2024 Newsletter
Hello Franklin Families!
Happy Fall! Here are some building-wide activities that I will be focusing on:
Red Ribbon Week: Wadsworth City Schools will be participating in the National Red Ribbon Week Campaign October 21st through 25th. We celebrate Red Ribbon Week to encourage making healthy choices and staying drug-free. This year's theme is “Life is a Movie - Film Drug-Free.” We will celebrate by having a theme week and daily announcements. Check out our themes above in the newlsletter! We will also have a poster/coloring contest with the chance to win prizes!
Minute Meetings: Minute Meetings are exactly how they sound: I take a minute (or two) to meet one-on-one with EVERY student at Franklin, to connect and get to know them a little better. This helps me determine if students need help with making friends, connecting with their teacher/staff, and answering any other questions that they may have.
Small Counseling Groups: I offer small group counseling throughout the school year. Topics vary from stress management/coping skills, friendships/social skills, changing families, grief, to executive functioning/impulse control. If you have any questions about small group counseling, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Neumann
