The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - November 22, 2024
A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
What a great Turkey Bowl Game this year. Congratulations to the Red Team for the big win! We are so proud of all of our participants for football and cheer. A huge shoutout to ASB for an incredible rally and the addition of our own drumline performance as students entered the gym, added to the festive atmosphere. We are grateful to all the staff who helped to make the Turkey Bowl & Rally 2024 such a wonderful event. More pictures and game video to come in a future edition.
As we head into our week-long Thanksgiving Break, I hope all of our staff and River Hawk families have a chance to relax, unwind, and take a moment to share what they are grateful for. I am particularly grateful for the amazing River Hawk students and staff we have here at Rio Norte. They are kind, gracious, and hardworking people, and I am blessed to lead them!
Parents, I have a request for when we return on Monday, December 2nd and head into the final three weeks of the first semester. If you would take a moment to view the video below this message, "16 things your kid's teacher needs to hear," and consider shouting out to one or all of your student's teachers through a parent square message, an email, or even a sticky note sent in, just like in the video. It would be the perfect way to encourage our staff as they tackle those final weeks amongst all the holiday hustle & bustle that can add to teacher stress this time of year! And more importantly, it would just be really nice for them to hear. 💜

Underground Staff Spirit Week
Leading up to game day, Rio staff had an Underground Staff Spirit Week looking to see how quickly students would catch on to what we were doing. We all couldn't help but smile about some of the theories students came up with: "Are you all texting each other?" "Are you protesting student spirit days?" "Wait why are you all in flannel today?" See photos below. While the week ended in Wear Red or Blue for Turkey Bowl yesterday, I think the favorite of most students was Mr. Owston and Mrs. Welch greeting students at the front gate Thursday for Royalty Day!
Monday: PJ Day
Tuesday: Flannel Day
Wednesday: Hawaiian Day
Thursday: Royalty Day
Friday: Wear Red or Blue for Turkey Bowl
LIMITED 8th Grade Hoodies
