Muenster Elementary

Dear Parents of Muenster Elementary Students,

We have an exciting educational opportunity that will be taking place on April 8th of this year -- the viewing of the Great North American Eclipse.

On Monday, April 8, a rare astronomical event will occur, providing a unique learning experience for our students. The eclipse is an excellent opportunity for students to engage with science, astronomy, and the natural world. Many of our teachers will be incorporating this event into their lesson plans to enhance the educational experience for all students.

The safety of our students is our top priority; we will take all necessary precautions to ensure that the eclipse viewing is conducted in a safe and supervised manner. Protective eyewear will be provided for each elementary student and staff member. A portion of these have been donated by the Houston Museum of Science & History & Buc-ees.

We believe that this event will be a valuable and memorable learning experience for our students, and we encourage you to discuss it with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you wish for your child to not participate, please let us know by contacting your child's teacher, the elementary office (940.759.2281, ext. 621) or emailing dsicking@muensterisd.org.

As spring and warmer weather are here, we want to remind students and parents of the dress code for Muenster Elementary. I have highlighted some specific areas of concern below. Dress code violations do follow our discipline procedures. Thank you for helping your children to choose appropriate clothing for school dress.

PROHIBITED:

• When a boy’s hair is straightened or dried it should not extend below the top of the collar, over the eyebrows, and below the bottom of the ear.

• Drastic or unnatural hair coloring

• Ornaments that are entwined or braided into the hair

• All house shoes

• Pajamas (except on theme days)

• Pants with holes that expose skin above the knee or are excessively frayed, sagging, or baggy

BOYS & GIRLS:

Shorts, skorts, skirts, and dresses must reach mid-thigh or longer allowing the student to stand, sit, or bend with modesty. The same applies if there is a slit in the front, back, or side of the garment.

Leggings and jeggings are ONLY ALLOWED if the top is of appropriate length (covers their bottom).

All home football and basketball games will be livestreamed online via Muenster ISD’s YouTube channel during the 2023-2024 season! Thanks to funding by MISD and the MISD Hornet Booster Club, fans will be able to watch the Hornets and Lady Hornets live in action, even if they can’t attend games in person. Fans can access games online by navigating to https://bit.ly/HornetsLive or by visiting the homepage of our school’s website, www.muensterisd.net, and selecting the “Home Game Livestream” link. All Junior High, JV, and Varsity Football and Basketball games will be broadcast on the Muenster ISD Athletics YouTube channel. Games will appear/begin approximately 5 minutes before kick-off/tip-off.
