News and Notes
Wildcat Family!
Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome back the nearly 2,700 Wildcats to campus tomorrow, January 6, 2025. In an effort to ensure that all students are in tune with what their schedules hold for the semester, ALL students will report to their advisement first thing tomorrow.
As we start a new semester, it is important to ensure that our routines and patterns are well established and followed accordingly:
- Drop off and Pick Up - Student drop off is located in front of West Campus Gym and also behind the school in front of East Campus Gym. No students should be dropped off or picked up in the student and/or staff parking lots. Student pick up is ONLY available in front of the West Campus Gym in the afternoons. Please help us in maintaining the safety of our staff and students by adhering to these simple expectations (Map Here) for an efficient and functional drop-off. Please also remember that our school system provides transportation to ALL students outside of the (1) mile radius - Click Here for the transportation link.
- School Start and End Times - Students are marked tardy to school if they are not in their class by 7:30am, we open the doors as early as 7:00am if you need to drop them off earlier. Our school dismisses at 2:25pm and buses roll at 2:30pm.
- Communication and Academic Reporting - Parents and students alike should have easy access to both the Smore Newsletter that is sent out weekly as well as access to PowerSchool as a powerful communication tool reporting your child's latest grades & attendance. In fact, you can utilize the app feature to get updates in real time when your child is marked tardy or absent.
- Extracurriculars - Research has proven time and time again that a connected student is a successful student. While every activity doesn't meet the interest of every student, we have an abundance of clubs, fine arts and athletics that every student should be able to find a way to further connect and find an interest. We are fortunate enough to have a dedicated staff that supports these ventures outside of the school day. Click Here to be directed to the Extracurricular website.
Lastly, as we look to close out the last official semester at 1 Wildcat Dr; it is hard not to embrace the bittersweet season we are currently in. Next year, we have the great opportunity to further impact our students, staff, and stakeholders by providing state of the art facilities to enhance and accommodate our growing population. For some, growth creates angst - for us as a school it is a point of pride as we know that great schools generate great, growing communities. We are grateful for the support of the community and the Board of Education in seeing a vision through to ensure that our students needs are met.
If we can ever be of assistance or support as you navigate through High School with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be happy to personally connect via email (cmiller@bryan.k12.ga.us), via phone (912-459-5151) or through the feedback form at the bottom of this newsletter. Let's collectively work together to make this the very best year yet at #ouRHouse!
See ya, Love ya, Bye!

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
In anticipation of the December 1, 2024, opening day for the 2025-2026 school year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we want to encourage Richmond Hill High School seniors and parents/guardians to create a FAFSA profile, one for the high school senior and one for parents/guardians. Please know that ANY student who wants to be considered for federal, state, and/or school financial aid programs (including grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans) must have a completed FAFSA. The deadlines for scholarships begin in January of 2025, so please do not hesitate.
A step-by-step guide to completing the FAFSA process is linked on the RHHS School Counseling Department website.

MCV-4 Important Information
At the age of 16, Georgia requires that your student receive the booster to the MCV4 vaccine.
If they do not receive the MCV4 booster on or after the age of 16, their immunization record, Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231), will expire.
If you have not already scheduled an appointment for your student to get their vaccines updated, please contact your healthcare provider or the Bryan County Health Department at 912-756-2611 to arrange the MCV4 booster.
Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and causes shock, coma and death within hours of the first symptoms. Georgia law requires students be vaccinated against this disease.
Please provide an updated copy of the Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) once the MCV4 booster is completed. This document will become a part of your student’s permanent record once it is received by the RHHS clinic staff.
Contact your healthcare provider or the Bryan County Health Department with any questions related to the MCV4 Booster.
