Traffic at Hillside!!
For all those driving, dropping off or picking up at Hillside:
Please be mindful of parked cars and where you might be stopping/parking. If you park yourself behind someone in a legitimate parking space, they will be unable to exit once they are ready to go. Please use the available parking spaces or head down to the lower parking lot if you need to park.
Also, if you are heading around the flagpole area and down to the lower lot in order to exit, please be mindful of anyone who might be pulling across into a parking space around that area. Thank you for paying special attention to traffic at Hillside. Our new school will have a much improved entry/exit and traffic patterns that are much easier to navigate! Meanwhile, let's stay safe out there.

Parent Night Information at Westside Middle School for 6th Grade Parents
Hello!
Please read this if you are the parent or guardian of a 6th grader who will be transitioning to Westside Middle School next fall:
The transition to middle school is an exciting time! We have several important dates we hope you mark on your calendar. Your first event is 6th Grade Information Night, an event organized to help introduce you and your student to their future school. Both students and parents are invited to 6th Grade Information Night; you may pick the night that works best for you. When you arrive, you will report to the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Tuesday, March 26th at 6:00 - 7:30pm
Wednesday, March 27th at 6:00 - 7:30pm
Families will be attending three break out sessions in order to gain more information about WMS.
Middle School 101: Find out about dress code, expectations, bus, after-school study hall, iPads, etc.
Grading: Learn about grading at Westside Middle School
Athletics/Clubs/Activities/Involvement: Learn about the different opportunities for students to be involved with at WMS.
Counselors will be available to ask questions about schedules, but they do not have a specific rotation.
The second event is Warrior Walkabout. This event, involving students only, allows current 6th graders to meet each other and explore Westside Middle School through fun activities. It will take place in the afternoon of Friday, May 10th during the normal school day. Students will eat at their elementary school and then travel by bus to Westside Middle School. This has been a very positive event in helping our students feel better about heading to middle school.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Westside Middle School! Please contact your child’s teacher or principal if you have additional questions. We will see you in March!

La Noche de Información del 6to Grado
¡Hola!

Rock Your Socks for Down Syndrome Day!
On March 21st, the Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands will be joining our school, among others around the world, in celebrating WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY!
3/21, World Down Syndrome Day, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
Together we will create a single global voice advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome in our school, community and around the world.
Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands has supplied pairs of colorful, crazy mismatched socks to our school to distribute so that we can show our support on 3/21. These socks demonstrate that it is okay to be unique and different. The order form is below. For questions, please contact Mrs. Foster at foster.jill@westside66.net
