The Buzz
Spring Term - 9th February 2023
Message from the Executive Headteacher
As we approach the halfway point of the academic year, I'm always delighted to speak to the children who are hugely positive about their learning and are always so polite. This was echoed when the year 6 pupils attended the production of Joseph at Hampton School this week. They were complimented on their manners and how well they had represented the school.
This week I was pleased to meet with the parent reps of FOHJS. It was a very positive meeting and we discussed the exciting plans we have for the playground development which they will be supporting this year. However, sadly they raised the issue of parking again and in particular some of the driving and parking seen by parents which is dangerous to the children. As a school we will be developing our travel plan and hoping to encourage more children to walk or scoot to school but once again we appeal to you as parents to park a little further away and walk part of the way to school as well as getting some steps in!
I'm pleased to formally welcome back Mrs Hughes. She is returning from maternity leave and will be taking up her position with the SEND team again - welcome back!
Enjoy your half term break and see you bright and early on Monday 20th February.
Ms Helen Lockey

Messages from the Office
Please can you ensure where possible your child comes to school with all their belongings for the day to include their water bottle/after school snack etc. It is not feasible to make phone calls home if your child has forgotten something but we are happy to send a text via Parenthub. Please ensure you have your notifications ticked so you do not miss any notifications.
Mrs Wibden will be putting out all items of lost property after school tomorrow. Please do take a look and importantly please do ensure that all items of clothing are fully named.

Children’s Mental Health Week & Internet Safety Week
This week, across the school, we have exploring the theme of ‘Let’s Connect’ as a way to support positive mental health for children’s mental health week but also as a part of internet safety week, promoting the safe and responsible use of technology.
Let's Connect is about making meaningful connections for all. The children have been learning how healthy connections to family, friends and others can support mental health. And when our need for rewarding social connections is not met, we can sometimes feel isolated and lonely – which can have a negative impact on our mental health. With this in mind, we are very excited to have written our first letters for the ‘Community senior letters’ project where we wait in anticipation to be paired up with a residential nursing home. To find out more about this project, have a look at their webpage:
https://communityseniorletters.com/
The week has also enabled the children to spend time exploring the connections they make with others online, whether that is on social media, a mobile phone or when playing video games. Lessons have focused on the difference between positive and negative online relationships, how to stay safe online and the differences between online and in person connections.

Thursday 2nd February v Hampton Hill
A fantastic day for the boys and girls football team! Both teams showed incredible determination and certainly represented the school with pride.
The girls dug deep to win their game 4-2 with some brilliant build up play and finishing.
The boys made a tremendous come back in the second half eventually going on to win 4-3. An amazing team performance as they never gave up and carried out on to get the win.
Well done to both teams! Exciting times ahead!
Year 3 News
What a wonderful day we had learning about the Egyptians! Here are some photos of us learning about hieroglyphics and one in our costumes! The children learnt about Tutankhamun, mummification, heirogly[phics and explored some Egyptian artefacts. The today wouldn't have been complete without some Egyptian dancing too! We hope the children had the best day.
