ROCKLAND HIGH WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
September 6, 2024
UPDATES
It was a quick but eventful week after the four-day Labor Day weekend. Students and staff are all getting into the swing of things and an exciting new school year is underway.
The vestibule project has been completed. The newly dedicated "Security Kiosk" is up and running with Ms. Penney in the lead for student attendance, including tardy student check in and dismissals. Moving forward, Chromebooks will also be issued from this location. See the photos of the new space below.
RHS was the lucky recipient of a state-of-the-art customized golf cart donated by
Rockland High School alumna and professional golfer Megan Khang. Megan, a 2015 graduate of RHS, joined the LPGA Tour shortly after high school and has since become a standout in professional golf. In 2023, she secured her first LPGA Tour victory at the CPKC Women's Open in Canada. Coming off an exciting week of throwing out the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game and serving as unofficial host of the FM Championship in Norton, Megan will also be competing next week in her fourth Solheim Cup as a member of Team USA, having represented the U.S. in the 2019, 2021, and 2023 tournaments. This generous donation, made on behalf of Megan and her sponsors, is a tribute to her enduring connection with the Rockland community and the role her high school experience played in her career. Thank you to English teacher Ms. Walsh for coordinating the event and thank you Megan for your support of the Rockland Schools!

Join us in the fight against cancer by purchasing spirit day shirts. Proceeds from shirt sales will benefit the Boston-based Jimmy Fund Walk on October 6th, where RHS students will be walking to raise funds for cancer research at the Dana-Farber Institute.
Purchase your shirt online by Wednesday, September 11:
https://www.customink.com/fundraising/rockland-walks
Shirts will be distributed on the following dates and times at the Rogers Middle School cafeteria:
Monday, September 30th from 3:00-4:30 and 5:00-6:00
Tuesday, October 1st from 3:00-4:30 and 5:00-6:00
Students and families who do not purchase a shirt are asked to wear NAVY in solidarity with bringing awareness to the cause for the district-wide spirit day on Friday, October 4th.
Let's come together as a community to make a difference! Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,

For all respiratory illnesses, students may return to school when they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication AND symptoms are improving.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Picture Day went smoothly today. Any student who missed getting their photo today can do so on Picture Retake Day on October 23.
Students should submit their completed back-to-school paperwork to their A block teacher. It is critical that we have up-to-date information on file should an emergency arise.
Following two short weeks, next week is our first full week of the school year. Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Schipper
