CMS Toppers: News From the Middle!
12.15.24
Caroff's Corner
It's the final school week of the calendar year and this week is all about finishing strong and showing some Holiday Spirit!
Parents and family - thank you so much for encouraging your Topper to have a great week academically as they finish off with some important work and assessments for quarter two and for encouraging your student to participate in our Holiday Spirit Week - see below!
The annual PTO Holiday Shoppe will be this Friday - if you can spend some time at CMS to volunteer, we are in need of some family members to assist.
I'd like to highlight the work of Student Council this week who put together a great announcement on Friday, discussing our Spirit Week and for working on something special for all students in the new year. Stay tuned for some amazing new year's academic resolutions.
I would like to conclude with one of the kindness things anyone has done for me and a group of students in my career. A special thank you to Mrs. Breen and Mrs. Diehm with the assist from Miss Paroubek on creating CMS Dungeons and Dragons custom shirts for me and our students in the club as a gift for finishing the first campaign! This was a truly pleasant surprise for all of us and I am speechless and appreciative. Thank you to the three staff who took it upon themselves to make my and the students month!
Have a fantastic close to 2024 and may 2025 be filled with joy, satisfaction and health! The next newsletter will be on Sunday, January 12.
Wishing you a joyous holiday season,
Craig Caroff

New Message from Ms. Jenn in the CMS Clinic
Hello Parents,
I can't believe we are in the holiday season already.
It has been hectic in the clinic thus far. I have seen over 4,800 visits as well as have done over 300 vision /hearing tests.
If you feel your child is ill please keep them home. If you do send them to school, know I will try the interventions I have here before calling you. ( hot pad, rest, mint, crackers, cold pack)
I call parents with every 2nd visit of the day, failed healing with intervention tried, fever, vomiting, injuries, or anything following the school health guidelines.
We are seeing Flu, RSV, and mycoplasma pneumonia in the community. Please review with your child proper cough/cold etiquette, handwashing, and how to properly blow their nose.
Feel free to call me if needed.
Happy Holidays !!
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
Final Details: CMS Spelling Bee on Dec 18th!
Exciting news! CMS will be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this year and our school competition is this Wednesday, December 18th.
The top spellers from each class have been selected and will be invited to take part in a live, class-style, school-wide spelling bee December 18th in the LGIR beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. Parents, caregivers and siblings will be welcome to come watch their Bee participant in action.
Parking for family attendees will need to be in our middle school lot, our Board of Education lot, or in the alley between the middle and high schools. Parking is not available at St. Mary's Church as they have an event occurring at the same time.
Our TOP speller in the building will then advance to the Geauga County Bee on February 6th!
Next rounds include the Tri-County Bee (Geauga, Ashtabula, Lake Counties) - February 18 - and the 2025 National competition in May, held in Washington D.C.
Topper up! There are a few days left to assist your child. You can prepare by downloading the Scripps “Word Club” app for studying. This app includes all the possible 450 words selected for this year's Spelling Bee competition!
Have you joined our CMS PBIS rewards yet?
During the first week of school, all families received personalized QR codes to join PBIS rewards to see your student's information as it relates to positive behavior choices in the building. If you have not joined yet, please consider doing so by scanning the code you received and signing up to receive notifications.
If you need another QR code, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or Ms. Paroubek to access another copy.
Thanks for partnering with us on this new system!
Calling All Parents of Athletes!
Did you capture a great action photo of your child participating in CMS Basketball, Wrestling, or Cheer this season? Would you like that photograph in the yearbook? If yes, submit that photo to the yearbook staff for review. You might see it in the yearbook this spring!
