State Testing Starts May 6th
Effort = Success
On Friday, May 2nd, we hosted our State Testing Kick-Off Assembly with a clear and encouraging message for our students: GIVE YOUR BEST EFFORT. When students try their hardest, we’re confident they will show meaningful growth and continue building on last year’s progress. Their effort allows the results to truly reflect their learning and development. State testing will begin on Tuesday, May 6th. Students will report to their 1st period class for attendance and then move to their 4th period class or small testing location. These tests play a critical role in helping us measure student growth and guide important decisions related to school improvement. Results are also used for course placement—lower scores may lead to additional support classes, while higher scores can open opportunities for accelerated courses. That’s why it’s so important that each student gives their best effort. To ensure students are set up for success, we ask the following:
Encourage your student to get plenty of rest and maintain healthy nutrition throughout the testing period.
Encourage to bring wired earbuds. We have plenty available for those that need them.

GRIT Time and Raffle
To encourage students to give their best effort, we’re offering a fun incentive during testing: students can earn up to 4 raffle tickets on each test day! These tickets will go into a drawing for exciting prizes at the end of the testing period.
Here's how to earn your raffle tickets:
Stay focused: Work for the full required time on the test (typically 60–100 minutes, depending on the assessment).
Show your thinking: Use scratch paper to demonstrate your work.
Use your time wisely: After finishing, read quietly. (Be sure to bring a book!)
Be respectful: Maintain a quiet environment to support others during testing.
In addition, students that get all 4 raffle tickets will earn some outside time at the end of the day. Let’s aim high, stay focused, and have some fun while doing our best!
Science Fair
This year, we had three outstanding entries in the Science Fair. Each group presented their projects during lunch this week, giving the entire student body a chance to view their work and vote for their favorite. All participants were recognized at the assembly with a prize for their effort. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, creativity, and dedication they put into conducting and presenting their experiments. Great job Parker, Axel, Naomi, Daxton and Harlow—you represented Monticello with excellence!

ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN FOR THE 2025–26 SCHOOL YEAR
We’re excited to announce that enrollment is now open for the 2025–26 school year in Longview Public
Schools! Whether your child is entering kindergarten, transitioning to middle or high school, or joining us from another
district, we encourage families to complete the enrollment process as early as possible.
Enrolling early is important because it helps our schools plan ahead—allowing us to staff classrooms appropriately,
balance class sizes, and ensure we’re ready to welcome every student with the resources they need to succeed. The
more accurate our enrollment numbers are now, the better we can prepare for a strong start in the fall.
Visit our district website www.longviewschools.com to enroll today or contact your neighborhood school for assistance.
We’re here to help every step of the way!

Skyward Access To Check Grades
Skyward Family Access is an online tool that gives families the opportunity to participate more fully in their students’ education. It offers up-to-the-minute student information, including attendance, schedules, food service balances and immunizations. It also includes a calendar and message center.
If you have not yet obtained a username, submit an application to a school where you have a student attending. Your username will work for all active students living in your household. Each guardian may have a separate user name and password. Click here for a link to skyward family access. If you have any questions at all regarding your child's progress or classes, you are encouraged to reach out to your child's teachers.
