The Next Six Weeks
As we continue the longest stretch of the school year here are some reminders:
- Attendance matters
- Students are more likely to succeed academically when they attend school consistently.
- Parents/Guardians, please continue to check your students' grades and look for missing assignments through A-HConnect.
- It is important to follow our school's procedures for picking up your student early
- Please help the school, your student and yourself by following our early pick-up procedures. See the segment below on our Procedural Expectations for picking up your student early.
- Avoid appointments and late arrival during upcoming MCA testing
- Students that come in late or need to leave during MCA testing times will need to make-up portions that they did not complete. This means students may miss out on other important classroom instruction, causing them to become academically behind.
- Students need to come to school with their Chromebooks fully charged and should bring their chargers with them to school on a daily basis.
- We are very limited on the amount of charges we have in the school. Coming with a fully charged Chromebook and having their charger as a back-up keeps the day running smoothly for both the student and staff.
- Student don't need a cell phone for educational purposes during the school day
- Cell phones are the biggest distractions for our students.
- A-H Schools middle school phone policy is that phones should be put away 7:55 a.m. - 3:05 p.m. At RMS, we will allow a student to use their phone in the presence of a staff member if permission has been given.

How to Monitor Your Teen’s Social Media Without Hovering
Social media exposes us to a massive variety of content and people, both good and bad. The vast uncertainty associated with the digital world is a major cause of concern for many parents. How can you ensure your child’s safety when they’re posting messages and photos for friends, classmates, and even strangers to see?
You may feel tempted to continuously keep tabs on your child’s social media activity, checking every post, message, and login time. However, this constant surveillance can have negative consequences, resulting in reduced trust between you and your child.
A blog post from icanhelp.net titled, “How to Monitor Your Teen’s Social Media Without Hovering,” provides some tips on how to look out for your child while building trust (and saving time).
The blog is broken up into these sections:
Talk with your child.
Trust your child.
Use parental control apps to check in periodically.
