Chapel
Pastor Dennis Wright spoke at our chapel this week. He shared the passage from John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes the Father except through me." Pastor Dennis was a missionary for many years. The place where he first served was the country of Turkey. He shared a story about a
man who lived in Turkey and was told that his daughter was terminally ill. The news devastated this man. But Jesus spoke to this man in his dream. This man was Muslim, and in the dream, he heard Jesus say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God except through me." In the dream, he also believed that God would heal his daughter. This man gave his life to Christ, and his daughter was healed.
Pastor Dennis then shared that God wants to use us with whatever gifts we have, no matter how small. He fed 5000 men with just five loaves and two fish. God can take our gifts and resources and use them for His purposes.
Next week, Bob Andrea will be speaking at our chapel. Bob is an artist and will share a lesson using art. Chapel is at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday. You are invited and welcome to attend.

Bible Class
Remember that Proverbs are concise wisdom sayings that share a general truth about life, God, and the world around us. Proverbs are not a promise or a command, rather they are general truths. While we can look to the biblical book of Proverbs to help us develop a wise attitude toward life, we must read the book of Proverbs alongside the other wisdom books, such as Job and Ecclesiastes, to really understand God’s sovereignty in the affairs of men.
--From our Bible Roadtrip Curriculum
Note: Proverbs deals with many of the issues humans struggle with in today's culture. Frequent subjects include finances, speech, and the proper use of sex. We leave sex education to the parents. However, some of the verses in Proverbs will cover this topic. Depending on your child's age, if you have not discussed sex and God’s plan for sex with your children, this would be a great time to bring it up. The video below provides good advice on how to talk to young children.
Students are memorizing the following verses for the first week:
K-3 Students - Proverbs 3:5
4-5 Students - Proverbs 20:11
6-8 Students - Proverbs 16:3, Proverbs 20:11, Proverbs 21:31, Romans 6:4-5
Proverbs 20:11, "Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright."
Reading this week included the following:
Proverbs 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 31 (K-3)
Proverbs 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 31 (4-5)
Proverbs 16-31 (6-8)
Questions to ponder:
What does Proverbs 17 say about our speech? What does it communicate about anger? What do we read about our hearts? What can we discern about living with integrity from reading Proverbs 22?
Proverbs 24 is a portion of the “Sayings of the Wise.” Choose two of the small sections and reflect on their meaning.
What did Solomon say about friendship in Proverbs 27:4-6, 9-10, 17?
What are a few words that describe a godly woman? How can you seek the Lord in a deeper way this week? (Proverbs 31)
