The Phoenix Flame Family Edition
A weekly newsletter that will light your way.
Week of September 9th - 13th
Hello All!
Our first full week of school! Monday's are late start days for the whole district. What does that look like for BVA? Our teachers are working together during late starts, on data, feedback and common assessments from 8:30 - 9:30 for the late start meeting each Monday. They will likely be less available during this time!
I hope everyone has a successful and productive week!
IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR--
WA State Fair tickets are available to pick up!! Pick up your tickets in the BVA Office M - F from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Weekly Academic Contact
The easiest way to be counted each week for attendance is to go to your (elementary) classroom meetings, your scheduled 1:1 meetings, or (secondary) Advisory Tuesday's at 11:00 am.
Attendance is calculated BOTH consecutively and cumulatively
Consecutive absences accrue by missing WAC in back-to-back weeks. The consecutive absence count resets whenever a student makes WAC. Each absence 'stacks' and is subject to progressive intervention.
15 Days (3 school weeks): Automated warning letter from BVA admin
21+ Days: Student is withdrawn from BVA
Cumulative absences accrue by missing WAC any week. Cumulative absences do not reset. Each absence 'stacks' and is subject to progressive intervention.
Week 1: Robocall
Week 2: Phone call from BVA office staff member
Week 3: Zoom meeting with BVA office staff member
Week 4: Home Visit from BVA office staff & BVA school counselor
Week 5: Grace Week
Week 6: Zoom meeting with BVA administrator
Week 7: BECCA (Truancy) petition

2024 HIV/AIDS Curriculum Parent & Guardian Preview for Grades 5-12
Parents and guardians are invited to review the HIV/AIDS curriculum that will be introduced to students as part of the HIV/AIDS Prevention education later this year. To opt your student(s) out of this curriculum, attending a parent preview session is required. You should attend a preview session if you wish to view the curriculum yourself or if you are considering opting your student(s) out. This process must be completed each school year. There will be 12 preview sessions conducted via Zoom. To sign up for a session and to learn more, please visit

Transportation Open House
Before our kindergarten and preschoolers started school, they had the opportunity to see what riding a bus would be like at our annual Transportation Open House! Students and parents spoke to drivers, toured school buses, and got valuable information about the process of riding a bus. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=914391067399546&set=pcb.914391284066191
