From the Principal
Hello LHS Families,
As the holiday season approaches, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible students, parents, and staff who make the Lodi High School community so special.
This time of year reminds us of the importance of connection, compassion, and celebration. Reflecting on the past semester, I am proud of the hard work, growth, and achievements our students have accomplished both in and outside the classroom.
As we transition into winter activities, I encourage you to join us for a winter concert, a forensics or mock trial competition, or a wrestling or basketball game. These events showcase the incredible talents and dedication of our students.
During December, I hope you can find time to relax, enjoy your loved ones, and celebrate the joys of the season. Whether it’s through family traditions, volunteering, or sharing moments of laughter, these connections remind us of what truly matters.
On behalf of the entire staff at Lodi High School, I wish you a joyful, peaceful, and safe holiday season. Thank you for being an integral part of our wonderful school community.
Go Blue Devils!
Mr. Jelinek

Veterans Day Ceremony
Lodi High School held the district's annual Veterans Day Ceremony in the Performing Arts Center on November 11. This year, Navy veteran Paul Fisk spoke about our nation’s POWs and MIAs, while Senior Master Sergeant Todd Kern shared his experiences serving in the Air Force. He emphasized that even if military service isn’t your passion, there are countless ways to make an impact through service to your community. The ceremony also provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents. Members of Lodi Area Boy Scout Troop 113, Brock Wendt and Aiden Zitani, performed the presentation of the colors. Senior speakers included Juniper Schmidt, Isabelle Wipperfurth, Caleb Rotzoll, Chase Maas, and Jadyn Hellenbrand. Soloist Blake Simpson gave a moving performance of the time-honored melody Taps. The Lodi High School Chamber Choir performed the National Anthem, and the choir and high school band collaborated to present the service songs for the five branches of the military: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force.

Lodi Santa Project
Hello Families,
Each year, families in our district are offered support during the holiday season through the Lodi Santa Project. This project has been around for 30+ years providing local families in need with gifts, cold weather gear and other necessities anonymously for those who might otherwise go without. Last year we helped over 40 families with more than 100 children. These are especially difficult times for many families in our community. If you, or any family that you know who are part of the Lodi School District would benefit from this project, please reach out to the program coordinator, Pam Cunningham, directly via email at lodisantaproject@gmail.com. All information is kept strictly confidential.
Families who would like to support the Lodi Santa Project financially or who would like to sponsor a child or family can also contact Pam at the email address above. Monetary donations as well as donations such as socks, mittens, hats, books, teen friendly gift cards, board games, crafts, etc. are always appreciated!
School Forest Timber Harvest

Nurse Notes - December
Nurse’s Notes December 2024:
E-Cigarettes:
The e-cigarette aerosol that users breathe from the device and exhale can contain harmful and potentially harmful substances, including:
Nicotine
Ultrafine particles that can be inhaled deep into the lungs
Flavorings such as diacetyl, a chemical linked to a serious lung disease
Volatile organic compounds
Cancer-causing chemicals
Heavy metals such as nickel, tin, and lead1
The aerosol that users inhale and exhale from e-cigarettes can expose both themselves and bystanders to harmful substances.
It is difficult for consumers to know what e-cigarette products contain. For example, some e-cigarettes marketed as containing zero percent nicotine have been found to contain nicotine.
If you use tobacco, it’s never too late to quit. For free help, visit smokefree.gov or call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
Talk to your student about why e-cigarettes are harmful for them. It’s never too late.
National Handwashing Week:

to help people remain healthy one hand wash at a time. Practicing good
hand hygiene is a simple yet effective way to prevent infections.
Washing your hands regularly can prevent the spread of germs.

December 2024
Well the snow is here and winter begins and so do the holidays!
Our Harvest of the month features for December are cranberries, brussel sprouts and sorrel. Sorrel is a light herb with leaves with a lemony scent. Please watch for our featured items on the menu throughout the month. We are featuring our guest Chef John Sugimura on Tuesday, December 10. He will be talking to the students about Japanese culture and making a Japanese dish, Yakitori Yakisoba (grilled chicken skewers and grilled noodles with vegetables), for our lunch feature that day. I am so excited for everyone to meet Chef John and hear his story. Please come down and buy lunch that day and show him our support!
Please remember to visit our salad bar when you take lunch. We have a variety of fruits and vegetables for you to try. If there is something you would like to see on your salad bar please let us know and we will try to get it. We want you to get your fruits and vegetables! We will have a ham dinner on this month also in honor of the Holiday Season. Please watch your menu for the schedule. We will be featuring a special holiday cookie to go along with the ham dinner. We will also feature a festive long john at breakfast in December. So exciting!
I also need to make everyone aware of a change that will be happening in January. With all the price changes in the last year, we need to adjust our pricing. We will have to raise ala carte prices starting January 2, 2025. This will not affect our meal or milk prices. We are looking for new and different items to give you more choices. We appreciate your support and understanding as we make our way through the changes.
Remember to be grateful for all that we have and all the good food we get to eat and remember to help those less fortunate. It is a special time of year and I hope you spend it with family and friends and fill your heart with joy! Happy Holidays Everyone!

LHS Staff Appreciation
Appreciate a Staff Member!
We have so many amazing educators here at Lodi High School! Mr. Jelinek and Mr. Marshall sat down with each staff member, and one of the common themes that came up was how much our staff love to be appreciated by the families that they serve. When you experience a staff member who is going above and beyond or deserves some recognition, please consider giving them a shout-out through our staff appreciation google form. Your appreciation will be put on a staff appreciation poster and shared with that staff member.
