Sunnybrook Goes Looney Tunes
Sunnybrook students and administrators participated in the Lansing Good Neighbors Day Parade on May 4th. It was a great time again to participate in this community event and show off our Sunnybrook spirit. This year to go along with the cartoon theme the district continued our theme from our Literacy Night and went with Alice in Wonderland. We had Dr. Millhouse-Pettis as the Mad Hatter, Dr. McGowan as the White Rabbit, and the rest of the administration along with Mrs. Hill from the board and Ms. Smith as the Playing Card Army. Then we also had Ms. Wagner and the Heritage Pep Band on hand show casing their talents along the way.
Nathan Hale Kindergarten on the Farm
Kindergarten hosted the 1st Annual Farm Night. The kindergarten students worked hard learning all about farm animals, tractors, crops, and more. The students performed farm themed songs for their families. They then visited the kindergarten wing to see their student's hard work, play games, see newly hatched live chicks and learn about all things farm. A great time was had by all.

Communications Class Update
In Communications class, seventh grade students are presenting Informative Speeches on the topic of their choosing. They had the options of presenting a definition, descriptive, or demonstrative speech. So far, students have defined racism, described discrimination, and demonstrated making fresh lemonade, slime, painting, and how to properly shoot a basketball. We are looking forward to learning about black holes, being introduced to Julio Jones, and learning about the evolution of gaming. Some additional topics will include interesting ways to lace shoes, the history of the WNBA, the effects of drought on African countries, and the causes of World War I.
Heritage Student Council Carnival
HMS Student Council delegates held the final event of the year - SPRING CARNIVAL - on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. All students grades 5-8 were invited to attend the event. Delegates planned and ran the games, activities, and concession stands to raise money for our future council events. Students enjoyed snow cones, cotton candy, snacks, beverages, various games, took selfies, and won prizes. It was a wonderful event to celebrate with Heritage students and staff!
ValentÃans Celebrated the Final House Day

Students conducted an ice cream experiment, participated in House Competitions, enjoyed Spring weather, and heartily enjoyed the staff competitions before the House Cup Ceremony. It was a great year for ValentÃans and we look forward to next year's plans! Who are we? Who are we? HOUSE OF BRAVERY!!!
7th Grade If My Life Started Today Project
Prior to Spring Break, students selected a US State or Territory to conduct research for their Life Projects. Based on each student's average math grades for the year along with chosen state/territory, students were given a yearly salary for the project. With this salary, they had to research careers, calculate taxes, and budget their expenses each month. Students also had to write an essay, create a poster or digital slideshow, and present their research. We had some visitors observe the presentations and even asked them questions about their project. It is incredibly rewarding to see all their research and hard work for this project. Great job, seventh graders!
Teacher Swap Day
The NJHS students had their Teacher Swap Day on May 1. Students were assigned to specific teachers at Nathan Hale, and they helped them in their classrooms from 8:45 am until 2:30 pm.
