FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MS. FOUNDAS
Dear Happy Hollow Families,
Thank you to all of our families who are volunteering and supporting our PTO. We just had a wonderful Harvest Day celebration, as well as excitement around our upcoming Movie Night and Book Fair!
Additionally, please remember to pull all the way up past our main entrance doors when participating in rolling drop-off or pick-up. This ensures that we can work most efficiently and get cars off Pequot Road as soon as possible. We have also seen an increase in parents not accurately reporting attendance/dismissal in PickUp Patrol. Please ensure your student’s attendance/dismissal is accurate, as that is what we rely on.
Fifth-grade families, I look forward to meeting with you virtually for a Virtual Coffee on Wednesday, October 16, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Here is this week's newsletter for your reference.
Respectfully,
Nicolette Foundas, Happy Hollow Principal
FROM OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY
Library Volunteers Needed
Volunteering in the Happy Hollow Library is fun and rewarding. As one parent says, "It's the best volunteer gig in the school!" Duties include checking books in and out, shelving books, covering and repairing books, and other special projects. No experience necessary - we will train you! Parents and grandparents generally like to help during their child's class, but there are other opportunities to volunteer as well.
Please contact HH Librarian Colleen Flannery or Volunteer Coordinator Alex Ryan if you'd like to participate in our volunteer program. Note: This is a yearlong weekly or biweekly commitment, but arrangements can be made to share your time slot with another parent.
We especially need help with:
- Kindergarten - Ms D. Russo (Tuesdays 10:10-10:40)
- 1st Grade - Ms M. Cohen (Mondays 9-9:45)
- 1st Grade - Ms H. Russo (Wednesdays 8:45-9:30)
- 4th Grade - Ms Pech (Tuesdays 12:05-12:50)
Questions may be directed to librarian colleen_flannery@waylandps.org or volunteer coordinator alexandraadelman@yahoo.com.
FROM OUR PTO

It’s voting time! Happy Hollow’s favorite event of the year is quickly approaching on 10/18. The kids
will have a chance to cast their votes on the following movies: Inside Out 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, If, Despicable Me 4. Please help to let them know classroom votes will be happening next week!
See you all there.

THE BOOK FAIR IS NEXT WEEK! The fair will be open Tuesday 10/15 - Friday 10/18. Families are
welcome during their child's class visit (must be CORI’d). We will also be open during Friday's Movie

We’re at the mid-point of our fall fundraising campaign, and we still have a ways to go. We are currently
at about 23% family participation – if you’ve been waiting to donate, now is your time! Don’t wait – YOUR DONATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
Thank you to all of the families who have donated so far, look out for the full list of supporters next week!
Harvest Day 🥕
This past Tuesday, students celebrated Harvest Day at lunch. Garden Crew members served up yummy treats made by our Kitchen Staff, including roasted potatoes with leeks, butternut squash soup and zucchini bread.
If your student(s) came home excited about the recipes, they can be found here. This special meal was made possible by all the students, teachers and admin who participate in the garden, the Kitchen Staff, the Garden Crew, and the PTO who provide funding.
