Monthly Update, May 2024
GLHS Opening Timeline Update
We are excited to welcome students to the new Gahanna Lincoln High School in the 2025-26 school year! We are now at the point in construction where all the pieces have been bid out and are scheduled, so we are in a better position to plan for a date during the 2025-26 school year for our new school to open to students. While our initial goal of an August 2025 opening was aggressive, challenges have caused a delay in opening until students return from the 2025-26 winter break.
Kindergarten Registration for 2024-25 School Year
We Can't Wait to Meet You!
Welcome Kindergarten Families! Kindergarten registration for children who will be 5-years-old on or before August 1, 2024 is going on now!
Kindergarten registration for 2024-2025 is a two-step process.
- Completion of enrollment paperwork online
- Once the online registration is completed, submitted and reviewed, an email from gjpswelcomecenter@gjps.org will be sent to you with next steps. If you do not receive your email after 5 days of submission, please check your spam/junk folder.
Welcome to Our New COO!

Heart & Pride Award
Congratulations to our Recipients
There will be no Heart and Pride Awards given during the summer months, but we will be asking for nominations starting again in the fall.
Summer School | Journey to Learning Information
Registration is Open
We are excited to offer our Journey to Learning and High School Summer School programming again in 2024!
Our K-4 program and K-12 English Learners program are designed to provide intervention to students who need targeted support in reading and/or math. For that reason, we have moved to a referral-based system of student registration. Students will be referred by their school teams based upon academic performance criteria and need. Families of eligible students will receive written communication regarding their student’s referral for summer services, along with the invitation to register.
Families that do not receive communication regarding their student's school referral will not be eligible to register for K-4 summer programs and K-12 English Learners programs.
For students currently in grades 6-8 as well as grades 9-12, registration is now open to all families, and spots will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
The registration process for middle school, high school courses, elementary special education, Kindergarten Readiness and preschool is open to all students but with limited space available.

Alumni Hall of Fame and Cornerstone Award
As we wrap up the 2023-24 school year, it is the time when we reflect on retired or retiring staff as well as community members, all who have unselfishly committed their professional and civic talents in support of our students.
It is also the time to think of those GLHS grads who have gone on to achieve significant success in their chosen fields, made notable contributions to their community and/or demonstrated strong leadership qualities.
Please consider nominating a past GLHS graduate, colleague or long-time GJPS supporter for the following awards:
- Gahanna Lincoln High School Alumni Hall of Fame was created to recognize graduates who through their performance and achievement brought credit and honor to themselves and to Gahanna Lincoln High School.
- The Cornerstone Award is an annual recognition of supporters of the school district or employees that have helped to build excellence within the Gahanna-Jefferson school system.
The combined award ceremony will be Friday, November 8, 2024.
Please email nomination forms and supporting information to Dianna Bessignano, bessignanod@gjps.org, by May 30. The nomination forms are attached.
