The Wildcat Weekly
September 9-13, 2024
Hi Families,
I'm really proud of how the start of the year has gone, and I attribute it to our staff, the kids, and you! Thank you for being so supportive of our school community. Every school year will have its bumps, and we will communicate them. One of the best parts of my job is working with families to find solutions and problem-solve. Thanks for being a partner in that hard work! As students get more comfortable with the school year, it's normal for kids to test the boundaries. When this happens, we connect with the family and the student; when appropriate, we repair the harm.
This week also marks the start of our reminding you that families must have a plan with your child's classroom teacher to come into the cafeteria or hallways. These restrictions are for safety reasons. You might have heard about another tragic school shooting this week. Balancing safety, meeting students' needs, and making this transition is essential. I appreciate your support in this transition.
In the newsletter below, you'll find important information on:
- Field trips and health forms
- Soccer parking
- Open House

See everyone tomorrow,

Explanation of Truancy at GIS
Attendance is so important to students' success in school. If getting your kiddo to school becomes challenging (and we've all been there in some way shape or form) please reach out. We want kids in school and we know it can be hard sometimes.
We take into account excused absences (illness or family emergency). We will ask for a doctor's note after 3 consecutive days of absence.
