We have one more week before Spring Break. Friday, March 14th was the end of the quarter. We will be sending home report cards when we return from Spring Break.

NEW Date: March 17th is Spring Individual and Class Picture day. Order forms have been sent home. If you want pictures, send in your form on or before picture day. There are two separate forms: One for individual pictures and one for class pictures.

We will have our Read-a-thon celebration assembly on Monday afternoon. Winners will be announced then. All reading logs and donations end tonight at midnight. BIG thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this a success.

Yearbook orders are due by March 21st. After that date, we will not be selling copies unless we have left overs when they arrive. These are $25 and forms are available in the office.

Kindergarten enrollment begins March 10th. You will enroll online at https://www.sdale.org/page/enroll. We are excited to welcome all our new students to Shaw!

Important Health Update: Pertussis Notification

The Arkansas Department of Health has issued a notification to school nurses regarding cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in the state. Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can be especially dangerous for infants and young children.

Please watch for symptoms such as:
Persistent coughing fits, often followed by a "whooping" sound
Difficulty breathing or catching breath
Vomiting after coughing
Runny nose and mild fever in early stages

If your child develops these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider promptly. Vaccination remains the best protection against pertussis. For more information, visit the Arkansas Department of Health website.
