OLVCS Updates
May 1, 2025
Dear OLVCS Families,
It has been an eventful couple of days, which may be an understatement for some of us. Delays and closures are the norm when it comes to running a school. This one was a bit out of that norm.
Please know that Mr. Stec and I consult and use the information that is available at the time to make informed decisions. Last night it all looked good to open today. This morning as we were provided additional information about limited bussing, the smoke detectors, and other logistical challenges, we changed course. We don’t take the decision to close school lightly. We try our best to condense information and hope and trust families know we are looking out for their best interest.
A clarification on May 15th; the Art Show starts at 5:00; Concert starts at 6:30
Recently, our K-4 families received a direct email from SCASD in regards to an Elementary Showcase. Families reached out to me to inquire how SCASD would obtain our specific addresses. While we give SCASD addresses for transportation, we by no means give permission for a direct mailing. I reached out to the district to inquire about the misuse of parent information. I have been assured that moving forward, they will not use our information other than its intended purpose.
As you are aware, we have a new religion series this year, Word of Life. Recently Kelly Nelson, Curriculum Coach, interviewed MS Religion teacher Sondra Allen, please read through the article below to see the impact both the new series and Mrs. Allen have had on our students!
We welcome Dan Dombrowski, as our new webmaster. He is working to clean up the site after the merge, if you find a broken link please email Dan at webmaster@olvcs.org
Finally, looking forward to next year, we have a few anticipated openings. If you or someone you know would like to be considered for one, please email me your interest.
