We appreciate the families that joined us for conferences last week where you had the opportunity to hear from your student what they are working on this school year. If you were not able to attend, please have a conversation with your student about their work at school. Some basic questions to ask are:
What was the best thing that happened at school today?
What was your favorite thing you learned today?
What did you read today? Did you like it?
Can you show me something you learned (or did) today?
We have a couple fun events coming up in October for our students. On Friday, October 25, the Western Trails PTA is hosting the annual Halloween Dance. Information should have come home with your student which included a pre-order form for food. The event will take place in the Western Trails gym and will go from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Students must be accompanied by an adult.
On Thursday, October 31, we will have our Halloween Parade and classroom parties. As we get closer, I will send a separate email which includes specific guidelines for costumes and will also include parade information. The parade will take place around 2:30 on that day.
Now that the weather is beginning to cool off, please ensure students are coming to school with appropriate attire. If you are in need of assistance for clothing, please contact me.

Agradecemos a las familias que se unieron a nosotros en las conferencias la semana pasada, donde tuvieron la oportunidad de escuchar de sus estudiantes en qué están trabajando este año escolar. Si no pudieron asistir, tengan una conversación con sus estudiantes sobre su trabajo en la escuela. Algunas preguntas básicas para hacer son:
- ¿Qué fue lo mejor que sucedió en la escuela hoy?
- ¿Qué fue lo que más les gustó que aprendieron hoy?
- ¿Qué leyeron hoy? ¿Le gustaron?
- ¿Pueden mostrarme algo que aprendieron (o hicieron) hoy?
Tenemos un par de eventos divertidos para nuestros estudiantes en octubre. El viernes 25 de octubre, la Asociación de Padres y Maestros de Western Trails organizará el baile anual de Halloween. La información debería haber llegado a casa con su estudiante, que incluía un formulario de pedido anticipado de comida. El evento se llevará a cabo en el gimnasio de Western Trails y durará de 6:30 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. Los estudiantes deben estar acompañados por un adulto.
El jueves 31 de octubre, tendremos nuestro desfile de Halloween y fiestas en el salón de clases. A medida que nos acerquemos, enviaré un correo electrónico por separado que incluye pautas específicas para los disfraces y también incluirá información sobre el desfile. Enjoy Fun for a Great Cause at D93 Kids Foundation Trivia Night on 10/26!
Parents, staff and community members are invited to attend the 2nd annual D93 Kids Foundation Trivia Night on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 7-10 p.m. at American Legion Post 76, Carol Stream! Enjoy a fun night of trivia, raffles & more, hosted by Go 4 It Entertainment. Tickets are $10 each or $100 for a table of 10.

Attend CCSD93’s Birth to 5 Let’s Play Fall Fest on 10/20!
All families with young children throughout Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Hanover Park, and the surrounding areas are invited to join School District 93's Birth to 5 Community Coalition on Sunday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m. to noon for a FREE fun-filled morning outdoors with face painting, a pumpkin patch, live children's entertainment, a trunk-or-treat, giveaways, and multiple play stations featuring materials and activities for families with young children! Tell your friends and neighbors!
