FEBRUARY 11, 2024
Hello, Dolphin Families!
The upcoming week will be a busy one, so be sure you have marked all the important dates and events on your calendar!
Class Photos will be taken Tuesday, February 13. Be sure to check the section of our Newsletter with all the details about ordering your copy of you child's class picture.
Students will be exchanging Valentines on Wednesday, February 14; this will be a classroom activity. Be sure to read the information shared by your child's teacher for specific information about what your child may need to bring to school with them and what their class will be doing during this activity.
Grade Level Valentine Parties will be hosted by the Donald PTA on Thursday, February 15. Visitors are welcome to attend this event at Donald. All visitors will need to bring their ID with them in order to be checked in by the office and receive a Visitor Badge. CLICK HERE to let us know you’re coming! As with all campus events held during the school day, the Valentine Parties are intended only for children enrolled at Donald. Both volunteers and visitors should make other arrangements for siblings who do not attend school at Donald so our teachers and volunteers can dedicate their full attention to students during these events.
We will end the week with an EARLY RELEASE @ 11:45AM Friday, February 16. Students will be dismissed following normal dismissal procedures. If your child's afternoon dismissal routine will change on this day, please make sure to notify their teacher via email on Thursday.
As a reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL Monday, February 19.

MEET DEVOTED DOLPHIN ALEXIS
My name is Alexis. I am a 7th grader at Shadow Ridge Middle School and I am a Devoted Dolphin. I was a Donald Dolphin from 2018-2022, 2nd-5th grade. When I was a Dolphin my favorite thing was PE and going to different Specials.
When I volunteer I get to help students with their letter sounds, decoding and other literacy games in Kindergarten with Mrs. Esch. It’s fun because she was my 2nd grade teacher my first year at Donald!
Being a Devoted Dolphin means a lot because I feel like I can enjoy the feeling of being there again. I miss being a Dolphin. I love that I can help the next generation of dolphins be successful and make sure they enjoy their time there just like I did.
My advice for 5th graders this year is to really enjoy it while it lasts because middle school is so much different and you’ll miss elementary a lot. They also need to be prepared to do homework.
Mrs. Hoffman is looking for donations from those of you with overflowing craft supply collections at home! She's teaching a group of 5th Grade Dolphins the art of cross-stitch, but she needs supplies to keep them going. If you have any unused cross-stitch kits, thread, needles, patterns, or fabric you would like to donate, Mrs. Hoffman would appreciate your help!
Check out all things Donald PTA by viewing the latest PTA Newsletter!
We would love to have you volunteer in our classrooms and at extracurricular events! To get started, JOIN the Donald PTA, and then complete your yearly VOLY Background Check. All volunteers must have a current VOLY Background Check, so if it has been a while since you completed this process, check in with the Donald Office Staff to see if you're approved!
DOLPHIN DADS
It's not too late to join this amazing team of men making an impact at our school! If you’re a Donald Dad or Grandad and are interested in joining the Dolphin Dads, make sure you have completed VOLY this year, and CLICK HERE to fill out the interest form!
The LISD Recognize SomeONE program gives our staff and community members the opportunity to highlight the exceptional work the do. If a Donald staff member has made an impact on your student or family this week, please take a moment to Recognize SomeONE and let them know how much they mean!
