Wishing Our WYASD Families a Wonderful Summer!
As we wrap up another fantastic school year, we want to thank all of our families, students, and staff for being part of the WYASD community. Your support, involvement, and commitment to learning have helped make the 2024–2025 school year one to remember.
During the summer, we will publish the Blue & White Newsletter every 2-3 weeks. The next issue will be June 20th and will include our High School and Middle School Honor Roll lists.
We encourage you to stay connected—important updates and announcements will continue to be shared on our official social media channels and via email/text messages throughout the summer months.
We hope you enjoy a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer with your families. The weekly Blue & White Newsletter will return with its first issue of the new school year on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Until then, have a wonderful summer break—and we’ll see you in August!
Turning Tassels, Turning Pages
Last week's graduation week concluded in spectacular fashion with the Commencement Ceremony held on May 29th, marking the culmination of years of hard work, growth, and unforgettable memories. Family, friends, faculty, and graduates gathered under beautiful skies to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025.
The Commencement Ceremony was a true highlight, featuring inspiring speeches, heartfelt moments, and, of course, the proud walk across the stage. As tassels were turned and caps flew into the air, the joy and sense of accomplishment were unmistakable.
Congratulations West York graduates! You can view the full graduation ceremony by clicking the green bar below.
A Reminder to Shine
We Lit Up the Day with Learning!
Last Wednesday, students in Ms. Amy Versailles' class at Lincolnway Elementary lit up their classroom with excitement as they celebrated Glow Day!
The day was packed with glowing fun and bright learning. They kicked things off by exploring the amazing world of bioluminescent creatures—animals that produce their own light in nature, like glowing jellyfish, fireflies, and deep-sea fish. Students were fascinated by how and why these creatures shine in the dark!
Next, they put their math skills to the test in some glowing games! They also played Glow Jenga and Tic-Tac-Glow, where each correct answer gave them a chance to make a glowing move and challenge their friends. They also got creative by writing with highlighters under black lights, watching their words and doodles glow right off the page.
To wrap up the day, they dove into the excitement of Bin-Glow—a glow-themed game full of surprises and prizes. Everyone had a chance to win something special while showing off their teamwork and quick thinking.
Glow Day was a bright success, full of learning, laughter, and light! It was a fun way to spend one of their final days together this school year.
Alumna Shines at Carnegie Hall
On May 23, 2025, Analiese Eisenhart, a proud member of the Class of 2024, took the stage at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City. She performed as part of a prestigious collaborative concert featuring the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania – Mansfield Concert Wind Ensemble and the Western Illinois University Wind Ensemble.
Under the distinguished direction of conductors Dr. Adam Brennan and Dr. Mike Fansler, Analiese showcased her exceptional musical talent in a performance that celebrated the power of dedication, artistry, and education in the performing arts.
This unforgettable experience marks a significant milestone in Analiese’s musical journey and stands as a testament to her hard work, passion, and commitment to excellence. Analiese's journey included being a member of our Trimmer, Middle School, and High School bands during her time as a Bulldog!
The Great Book Hunt: Summer Edition
As the sun blazes, the pool calls, and the top of your summer reading list is decoding the ice cream truck schedule, there's a mysterious rustling under your bed. It’s not a lost sock. It’s not a dust bunny. No... it’s a school library book—and it's been hiding out since spring like it’s in the witness protection program.
Whether your copy of Charlotte’s Web became a coaster, your science textbook went on vacation in your beach bag, or Captain Underpants has been living a quiet life on your kitchen counter, it’s time to bring them home—and by home, we mean back to the school library.
We know how it goes. You checked it out and you meant to return it. But somehow, it got comfy at your place. Maybe it bonded with your bookshelf. Maybe it became part of the furniture. But no matter how close you've grown... it’s time to let go.
Here's the Deal:
Return any school library book—yes, even that one from third grade you just now discovered inside your couch—to any of our schools Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. over the summer.
You don’t need to return it to the exact school it came from. Just pick the nearest one, waltz in like a literary hero, and drop it off. No late fees, no judgment, just eternal gratitude and maybe a librarian happy-dance.
Trimmer Garden Summer Care
If you'd like to be part of taking care of the Trimmer Garden and harvest some vegetables over the summer break, please considering signing up to do so. This is a community garden, so please take some of the vegetables home and share them with your neighbors!
The garden contains lettuce, peppers, beans, tomatoes, parsley, cabbage, cucumbers, and red beets.
Click the bulldog above to sign up for a time to water, or you could even join a group to help out with weeding. Ms. Eckbold will be there most Wednesdays from 8-10 with donuts for anyone willing to help!
