Gifted Program Updates
The online gifted services referral window is open for Kindergarten and First Grade. All referrals should be submitted by Friday, February 28th. The Office of Gifted Education sent messages out to parents of students (grades 2nd,3rd, 4th, & 5th) tested in the fall with notification that results and eligibility reports are now in ParentVue. Be sure to log in to see results.

Math Tips to try at HOME
Practicing math at home can help children build positive associations with math. You can practice math at home by cooking, baking, playing games, and tracking everyday events.
Cooking and baking
Use recipes to teach measurement units
divide food into equal portions
adjust recipes to teach multiplication or ratio
cut dough into different shapes.
Playing games
Play card or board games that involve counting or patterns
Use dice or playing cards to practice math facts
Track scores or stats for a sports team
Tracking events
Keep track of the time the sun rises and sets
Keep track of the phases of the moon
Keep track of the weather
Other activities
Create patterns with pizza toppings or sprinkles
Create a shopping list and subtract items you already have
Add up the numbers of utensils needed to set the table
Bake something together
Measure, count, and record
Plan dinner or a party
Mix in math to your bedtime reading
News from the Clinic
We are seeing a lot of students with fever, strep throat and flu in all grade levels. If your child has been diagnosed with any illness please report their diagnosis to the school. This will allow us to track illnesses within the school as well as the county. Please make sure to follow the Chesterfield County Sick Day Guidelines when your child is ill.
2024 Student Assessment Summary
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has provided a longitudinal Student Assessment Summary (SAS) report for any student who has taken an SOL test in a previous school year. CCPS has posted the 2024 Student Assessment Summary reports shared by VDOE in the documents tab of ParentVue. Please use this letter (translations) from our State Superintendent of Public Instruction as well as the resources shared within the letter to better understand your child’s testing history.
PTA
The Reams PTA is in search of dedicated individuals to fill the vacancies below for the 2025-2026 school year. Please express interest by contacting or forwarding the contact information of someone that you recommend to reamspta@gmail.com.
President Roles & Responsibilities: PTA members look to you for leadership in creating partnerships within your community and fostering an environment where family engagement is encouraged and respected. Responsibilities include: · Chairing board and general meetings · Checking in regularly with officers and committees to ensure the overall plan is on target · Identifying challenges and inviting solutions · Volunteering at events, when available · Great presidents often have leadership, planning and public speaking skills and experience
Vice-President Roles & Responsibilities: A vice president may be called upon at any time to assume the role of president, temporarily or until the position is filled in accordance with your bylaws. Responsibilities include: · Implementing duties delegated by the president · Representing the president in his or her absence · Performing specific duties as provided for in the bylaws · Familiarizing yourself with all PTA programs and resources · Preparing for leadership by attending additional training opportunities and events that may be offered by your council, region, state or National PTA Great vice presidents often learn or possess leadership, planning and public speaking skills
Treasurer Roles & Responsibilities: Your PTA relies on you to ensure that appropriate financial records are kept, a budget is established and followed and controls are in place to prevent theft or fraud. Responsibilities include: · Ensuring an audit, financial review or compilation is done in accordance with the bylaws · Filing your PTA's 990 report to the IRS on time—if your unit is a 501(c)(3) · Overseeing proper handling of money, such as ensuring money is collected, counted, recorded and deposited promptly and appropriately · Ensuring financial checks and balances are in place at all times Great treasurers often have skills or experience with basic financial management. Training and tools are available from your state PTA and National PTA.
Vice President of Fundraising Roles & Responsibilities: Oversees all fundraising activities for the school year, works closely with fund raising committees, and researches new fundraising options. They also provide leadership on PTA financial questions, develop annual fundraising goals, and attend monthly PTA and Executive Board meetings.

CCPS Parent Information Sessions
Anxious Nation (Broadcast 50-minute version)- 2/20/25, 6:30 p.m., CTC@Hull auditorium
Join us for an impactful evening centered on understanding and addressing the growing concerns of anxiety in children and adolescents. We will screen the 51-minute broadcast version of Anxious Nation, a powerful documentary that sheds light on the alarming rise of anxiety in today’s youth. The film explores the science behind anxiety and emphasizes the importance of compassionate care, reducing stigma, and providing evidence-based solutions.
Following the screening, stay for an engaging panel discussion with mental health practitioners who will provide insights, answer questions, and offer guidance. Attendees will also learn about local resources to support families in their journey toward mental wellness.
This event is designed to spark meaningful conversations, build awareness, and connect our community with tools and support for managing anxiety in children. We invite parents, educators, mental health professionals, and anyone interested in fostering a healthier, more compassionate approach to addressing anxiety in our youth.

Parents, we are counting on you to child get into a good routine and make sure your students arrive to school on time!
