The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
I would like to give a special shout out to all of the beloved mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and extraordinary women who make the world a better place. Happy Mother's Day! I hope you are able to enjoy your special day with family and friends. Thank you for all that you do! We had an amazing performance from our child development and kindergarten students as they performed Mother Goose is on the Loose. Thank you to all of our families who were able to come. We had a packed house on Tuesday night. We will have our first grade students performing this week on Wednesday, May 15 doing something that we have called an "Informance". An " Informance" is an informal performance where it will be interactive and students will lead families through musical games and activities learned in class with Ms. Baut. Ms. Roberts and Ms. Ackerman's classes will be at 6 till 6:25. Then Ms. Clark and Ms. Plyler's classes will be at 6:30 till 6:55 P.M. We look forward to seeing our first grade families there! Please don't forget that our 3rd and 4th graders will have state testing this upcoming week on Tuesday, May 14 for SC Ready Writing, and May 16 which will be for SC Ready Math. Lastly, I would like to thank all of our Seaside families and community because we came in first place in the Ice Cream Wars at Stella's Ice Cream! Stingray Swirl was the top selling ice cream flavor and twenty buckets of ice cream was sold! We are working with Big Air Myrtle Beach because our entire school has won a Pizza Party! Thank you for your continued support. I hope that everyone has a wonderful safe weekend. We will see our students back at school on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed. D

Please check your child's backpack!
Seaside Families, I cannot stress this enough. We are seeing a big increase with things that should be staying at home. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys, key chains etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble. Students do not need to bring any sports equipment or balls to school. We have more than enough equipment for students to use. Please note for the 24-25 school year that all schools in Horry County will be going to clear book bags. You will see this information when registering your student (s) for next school year.

Traffic Reminder!
For safety purposes I am reminding all of our parents that between the hours of 7-8 A.M. and 2-3 P.M. there is a sign at the end of the road that says to make a right turn on to Highway 17. Please be safe and follow all road signs. Thank you for your help with this.

Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.
Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
