Good to Know
Parent Academy
Hello Bell parents,
I want to remind all of you of this month's Parent Academy that is going to be held on Feb 20th from 6:pm-8:00 pm in the Golden High School Library. This month's Topic is going to be Internet safety and signs of trafficking. The presentation will be put on by Cheezo; a special unit within the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office that specializes in these types of cases. It will be extremely informative and helpful I hope to see you all there.
- Officer Dan Hyde - School Resource Officer (Golden Police Dept.), Golden High School
April Academy
April's topic is going to be "how to overcome life's challenges with a positive attitude". For this, I'm bringing in America's Got Talent fourth place winner and golden buzzer winner Mandy Harvey. Mandy completely lost her hearing while she was a vocal music education major in college and taught herself how to sing again through very impressive means. There's a lot more to the story but she overcame her challenges to the point she finished fourth overall on America's Got Talent, received the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell, and has recorded several of her albums. She has authored a book, sang the national anthem before a NY Giants game, and been on multiple talk shows including The Steve Harvey Show, Good News, and several others. She is a phenomenal inspiration and talent and could make an impression on a lot of young people's lives. (and adult's lives as well) Kids will be allowed to attend this Academy.
Admission is free but it is a ticketed event so get your tickets while they're available. Information to obtain tickets is located on the flyer attached. I hope to see you there.
Free Tutoring
Structural Engineering Institute - Graduate School Chapter at Colorado School of Mines is going to offer more FREE tutoring for Bell students. If your students are interested in getting extra support in their math course, including homework help, studying for assessments, and general direct tutoring instruction, are welcome to attend. Sessions will be held every Monday and Thursday from February 3rd through April 24th. Sessions are from 3:30 - 5:30 PM in McNeil Hall in Classroom 214 on the Mines Campus. The address of this location is 1400 Maple St, Golden, CO 80401. Attached is a navigational guide for helping determine the location and where drop-off can occur.
If you’re interested, please fill out the corresponding forms found here in advance of every session to help prepare adequate staffing. The registration for each session will close 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Priority will go to those who register ahead of time. Please arrange your own parking and pick up, as the program does not arrange transportation.
They would also like to reiterate that it is best if students bring their homework/classwork or textbooks so they can accurately identify what problems that students need help on.
See more important information about this program here. Please reach out with any questions!
