The Westgate Wire

Allie and I wish you a wonderful weekend. Below are a few things to put on your radar.

• There is no parking between the intersection of Grove and Dwyer and the circle drive. Please do not park and leave your vehicle. We must have that area clear to move cars into the circle drive safely.
• Please stop by the lost and found when you are visiting Westgate for Parent/Teacher Conference on October 21/22. We have quite a collection of water bottles, masks, and sweatshirts.
• We will follow a "Monday Schedule" on Wednesday, October 13th. This means your child will attend all their Monday specials on Wednesday.
• A huge THANK YOU to the Westgate PTA and the Walk to School Day Committee for a fabulous event. It was fantastic to see so many students, families, and staff showing their Wolverine pride and walking to school!

Tuesday night the Illinois Northwest Cook Region PTA (our region including Palatine and Schaumburg schools) had their annual awards gala (via Zoom) and we are pleased to announce that Westgate was awarded three awards and a Shout Out from other PTA's! The awards included:

Best New Program - Winter Window Wonderland

Together, But Apart Award - For all of the different socially distanced programs

Health and Safety Award - Bike to School Month

Special Shout Out - Community Scavenger Hunt (Westgate Whodunnit!)

Congrats to everyone for all of their hard work. Your ideas and efforts not only help make Westgate a better place, but also inspire other schools and PTA's as well.

The Reflections program is an opportunity for students to express themselves through the arts. It is a national art contest that starts here at Westgate. Enter your original artwork in one of 6 art categories and in either the Primary (pre-K through 2nd grade) or Intermediate (3rd-5th grade) divisions. The 2021-2022 theme is I will change the world by…… The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday, November 3rd at 5 pm.

Westgate Cares is bringing their first service project of 2021-22 to Westgate. On Friday, September 24th it kicked off with students decorating a paper sock at tables outside during recess. Then, during the month of October, we will have a Socktober Collection Drive to benefit the local Journeys organization. See this Socktober Flyer for all of the details.
