Dear West Buncombe Elementary Families,

I hope this message finds you well! I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for helping us kick off the school year on such a positive note. Your patience and cooperation as we navigate the car line, adjust to the newly secured front entrance, and adapt to the changes in bus pick-up and drop-off times have been greatly appreciated. These efforts contribute significantly to ensuring a smooth and safe environment for our students.

I also want to encourage you to stay involved in your child’s education by participating in their classroom activities whenever possible. Your engagement is vital to their success, and we value the partnership we have with our families. Additionally, please continue to support your child’s learning by making reading a part of your nightly routine. A little time spent reading each night can make a big difference!

We are excited to remind you about our upcoming Open House/Title 1 Annual Meeting on September 24th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers, see their classroom, and learn more about what the school year holds.

We need your help to keep the school and your children safe. EVERY child's safety is important to us. It remains our highest priority to ensure that students enter and exit cars in a safe and organized way. We ask everyone to correctly follow our pick-up and drop-off procedures. Please note that car riders enter in the Eblen Intermediate School entrance. There is a turn off in the left lane is for WBES traffic.

• General precautions

  • Be your child's best example. Please be courteous and follow all safety guidelines at all times.
  • No arrivals prior to 7:15 a.m. No supervision is provided prior to that time.
  • Follow all directions from school safety personnel. They can see potential problems you may not.
  • Students are to be picked up promptly at dismissal at 2:30 p.m. There is no supervision after school hours.
  • Please drive slowly and watch for children!

  Drop-off and pick-Up procedures

  • Pull into WBES lot using the entrance off of Lee's Creek Rd. (***Note that during PM pick-up times, the line can be lengthy)
  • Students can load/unload from PASSENGER SIDE of vehicle only. The driver should remain in the vehicle at all times and all driver-side doors are to remain closed.
  • Keep pulling forward and fill in all gaps in Loading Zone Lane.
  • Have all school materials including backpack and lunch ready before student exits the vehicle.
