Opening of Meeting
The board meeting was called to order by President Gaspar followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Board members present: Ken Gaspar, A. J. Bahl, Brian Hunter, Yesy Perez, Jared Wormington, Annie Smith, and Ashley Bailey.
Consent Agenda:

There were no objections to approving the consent agenda as presented.
Admin Campus Reports
Campus reports were reviewed by the board.
Presenting highlights of their campus reports were:
Kayla Roderman - Monett Early Childhood Center Building Principal
Jennifer Wallace - Monett Intermediate School Building Principal
Previous Business
Update on Facilities by Steve Garner, Director of Operations, included :
- Cleveland Crosswalk progress
- Demolition of Sixth Street House (across from Monett Early Childhood Center) and shed tear-downs
- Central Office Renovation (old Middle School Building)
- MUSIC, the district's property insurance provider, recently conducted a safety walkthrough inspection and the district is implementing their recommendations.
- The district has received $200,000 from the School Safety Grant funding to be used for fencing at the Scott Regional Technology Center and at the Monett Elementary playground plus security window film to be installed at the Monett Middle School. In order to complete all of the needed safety projects, the district will exceed the $200,000 grant monies by $13,645. This amount will come from district funds in order to keep student safety a top priority.
Update on Curriculum by Dr. Melissa Huff, Assistant Superintendent included:
- Reading Success Plans Overview: The 1st - 5th grade teachers will be discussing the Reading Success Plans with parents during parent / teacher conferences this month.
- Benchmark Assessments (STAR Data): Students in 1st - 8th grades have taken the beginning of the year STAR Reading and STAR Math Assessments with future testing to be in August, December, and May. Kindergarteners will complete testing in December and May.
- Beginning Teacher Assistance Program Partnership: Monett R-1 has established a valuable partnership with the Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning (ATLL) in Springfield. This partnership will allow beginning teachers to receive essential training here as part of the district's New Cub Academy rather than beginning teachers having to travel to Springfield or Webb City to fulfill the training requirements.
The Board Unanimously approved the following Program Evaluations: (CSIP)
- Success Ready Monitoring (CSIP Goal 7) by Dr. Huff, Assistant Superintendent (Attached)
- Communication Report (CSIP Goal 2) by Ana Espinoza, Communications Director (Attached)
- Special Education Report by Dr. Drake (Prepared by Ms. Jenifer Graves, Special Services Director) (Attached)
The F23 Audit was presented to the Board and will be reviewed during this month with approval at the November board meeting.
New Business
The Board unanimously:
- Approved Scott Rice as the vendor for a district furniture purchase not to exceed $225,000.00.
- Accepted fencing bids as presented from Carnahan White and Dore Fence Company.
- Approved awarding the fencing bid from Carnahan White in the amount of $66,634.00 for fencing. at Scott Regional Technology Center and Monett Elementary School.
- Accepted the security window film bids from MGT Films and US Safety Film.
- Approved awarding the security window film bid to MGT Films in the total amount of $147,011 for installation at the new middle school.
- MoDOT Sidewalk Proposal under Missouri's Pathway for Progress as presented with easements granted for sidewalk improvements on two Cleveland properties owned by Monett R-1.
Work Session
Following the open and closed sessions, a work session was held with the Board generating
the Board Norms that will be posted on the Board of Education web page on the district website.
